Q:   What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at Government Medical College, Nagpur?
    A:

Take your regular lectures and any course you subscribed to every day. Refer to the professors' lectures and notes to make sure you understand the material. Practice drawing as many diagrams as you can for the exams. Make use of the online videos to get started on the subject.

Ideally, an MBBS student must spend 6 hours a day for studying in the first year, to ace the tests. There are totally five subjects but the amount of time to be dedicated per subject depends on your proficiency or knowledge in each.

    # Medical colleges are more cooperative than competitive

This is not a school or college where there is competition, there are no people to compete with and push out of the way. You have proven to be where you are. Your only competition is you. There is no race, rather one must focus on gaining more information to become a knowledgeable professional. Environment in medical colleges is less competition-friendly and more willing to help each other.

    # Prepare for the unseen

This is important, one must learn to stay immune to any sort of humiliation coming from your professors for not having completed tasks or simply being thrown upon by questions to which you do not have answers. Some departments have professors who can simply roast you and test your patience. Brace yourselves and develop a thick skin.

    # A roller coaster ride

The whole journey of MBBS is filled and sandwiched between happy and sad moments. Failing in some tests will be a matter of the past in the long run. Acceptance is key. Live every moment. Tackle issues with utmost maturity as there are dull days too. Discuss issues with peers or seek professional help if need be, remember asking for help isn’t a weakness.

To conclude, mental health is important. Stay on top of wellness.

These were some points. Watch this space at NEET BYJU’S for more updates on the same. But to start with, stay put with this bit of advice and be ahead of the curve.

    On B.Sc. Fees
Q:   What is the hostel fees at Government Medical College, Nagpur?
    A:

In hostel mess facility is also provided. In each hostel there are two mess halls which provides decent food quality. The hostel fees in Government Medical College, Nagpur is Rs. 60000 per annum for all Category candidates as per previous year's fees structure details provided by the College.

Q:   How is the college life at Government Medical College, Nagpur?
    A:

This college is one of the best colleges in the country for providing Medical Education.

Yes, ragging was an issue in the past, but now there are very few instances of ragging, and that too is not severe (just some intros and other minor things)

I have not heard of any rave parties happening here (I don't know who told you this). And as far as liquor is concerned, yes few students do consume liquor, but the count is very low to have liquor parties going on on the campus.

Hostels are hardly 300–500 meters away from the college building. Anyone needing a hostel room can get it and doesn't need to stay in private hostels.

As far as teaching is concerned, the lecturers are very good. Some of them have so tremendous knowledge and experience, that you would be baffled by how much information they can deduce just from a patient's clinical history.

Students do not always go on studying all year. There are at least 2 major college fests happening in a year. You can join clubs such as Music society, Dance club, Drama club, Quiz club (or even create your little club!)

There are some issues, such as bunks happening in the first year and sometimes (very rarely) non-functional equipment. These are some minor issues, but they don't bother you much.

GMC Nagpur, although it is infamous for ragging, I can assure you that all our seniors are extremely kind-hearted. My seniors were the only reliable friends I had in my first year of MBBS. They not only kept me grounded and motivated, but also took me out for dinners whenever I had a bad day or I was homesick. I would've probably sunk into depression had it not been for them.

There are 2 girls' hostels for MBBS students: Ladies Hostel 1 & Ladies Hostel 2, which are adjacent to the college building. The boys hostel is further down the road (a very beautiful road, I must add) - Boys Hostel 3, 4 & 5. I wouldn't say that they are extremely clean and posh, but they are pretty good considering that they're run by the state government. The food in the mess is okay. If you do not get acclimatised to it in the first few months, there are a variety of Tiffin Services to choose from.

The girls are required to have a room partner throughout the tenure, but the boys do get their private rooms after the 1st year (it depends on which hostel you are allotted and the number of students who opt for the hostel). If there are enough rooms available, the boys end up getting private rooms. To answer your question, usually most 1st year students are allotted the hostel.

About liquor & rave parties: I have been in the ladies' hostel since 2013, and there hasn't ever been any such incident. The reports that you may have come across were not reported in the national newspaper, but in the vernacular newspapers, which have a secret agenda to defame certain people working for the benefit of the student body.

About the education & teaching: If you take an interest in learning, then you will flourish no matter what sort of environment you are put into. GMC Nagpur has some of the best teachers who actually take an interest in teaching, but if you or your batch as a whole does not show interest in learning, they may not even look your way twice.

MBBS is a competitive course, so don't be surprised if you feel too much pressure. You will probably have to face the same environment even if you choose to go to a different college. Dealing with human lives is a mammoth task, and only we can ensure that we live up to our reputation of being the crème de la crème of society.

At the end of the day, no matter which college you choose to go to, it will have its pros & cons. The decision will rest upon you whether to utilise the pros to your benefit or not.

Even as a person who belongs to Mumbai, I have fallen in love with GMC Nagpur. It has humbled me in ways unimaginable. I go to college with students who not only come from families of famous doctors, but also from families of farmers and agriculturists. This is something you don't get to see in every other college.

Believe it or not, I have found friends in such a wide spectrum of society that I am convinced that GMC Nagpur has not only trained me to be a good doctor, but also to be an open-minded human being.

So, all in all, it is a great college for doing your UG, and I am a proud GMCian.

    Good college, realistic review.
Placements: The College of Nursing provides internships in the college itself, and students who studied at this college got good placements and had the benefit of getting 50% reservations at the time of placement as it is a government college. After completion, students need to crack either the state-level DMER or the all-India-level NORCET exam for placement.
Infrastructure: Nutrition lab, library, hostel, classroom—everything is average. The hostel is compulsory, and a meal is available inside the hostel itself. The hostel and college campus are too good; they are very lush, green, and wide. Asia's largest medical campus is here.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and highly qualified, with a lot of experience in their specific subject. Teachers available are M.Sc. and Ph.D. with 16–22 years of experience and clinical knowledge. Some classes are taken by nursing teachers, and some classes are taken by MBBS department lecturers.
Other: B.Sc. nursing is a very good course as it has good scope and better earning opportunities in India as well as in foreign countries.

    I'm absolutely satisfied here.
Placements: As our college is a government college. Most students get selected for state as well as central government jobs. The minimum salary for nursing officers is 50,000 to more than 1 Lac. AIIMS hospital and other government hospitals are recruiting students. We complete our internship in our college itself. Top roles offered by B.Sc. Nursing are tutor, nursing officer, and nursing superintendent.
Infrastructure: Hostel facility is available with adequate rooms and well-developed facilities. Wi-Fi service is available. The library is available. The hostel premise is very large, and there is a mess with average quality food. Many more facilities are available in the hostel. A hostel superintendent is also there.
Faculty: Our college teachers are highly educated and Ph.D. holders, knowledgeable. Teaching quality is excellent. Recently, a semester pattern was introduced. Sometimes it feels hectic, but now students learn to manage time and studies. Each semester, there is a university exam, and college-level exams are also conducted for theory and practical exams.
Other: Approximately 50 students are there in each batch.

Batch 2019 review by endoscopy technician.
Placements: 60% of students got the job, the lowest is 96k per annum to the highest 2.4 lac per annum, Apollo Hospital was the top one, all 5 of us got the internship in GMC, Nagpur itself. Endoscopy technician is the position and we get 8-10k starting salary and 40-45k after experience.
Infrastructure: Facilities were library, Wi-Fi and common rooms for rest & quality of food was bad, sports games we were? T able to use, we were separate by the institute because they thought we were of no use, we don? T have a specific post so we are worthless !
Faculty: We didn? T have a classroom, no professors we used to do self study, moderate was the difficult of exams, 45% is the passing percentage we used to study by ourselves and make our own notes for the examination, we used to do every work then also gave us titles of no use.
Other: I wanted to do something different and new, and it is unique course, proper classroom and faculty and study materials may improve it, yes we have freshers party & farewell party and many events, surrounding of campus is pleasant and we get scholarships and we do have sports events and cultural events.

The available course at the VK GMC Neemuch is MBBS. MBBS students can get jobs in top organisations & hospitals. There are only 100 seats available in the college. The seat intake is not very low, hence the chances of getting admission to the available course is high.
