Really enjoyable and a great place to study while exploring the campus and curriculum.

Placements: I am Paramesh from IIT Dhanbad. Placement statistics at this college are good. It is approximately 92 percent. The highest package offered here is around 60 LPA. The average is approximately 25 LPA. They offer many opportunities here, such as Goldman Sachs, Google, Amazon, and Accenture.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure might look old, but it is strong since it was built in 1926 during the British period. The auditorium has good capacity. Classrooms are equipped with central AC and smart boards. The library is much bigger than expected. They provide an excellent study environment.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful, guide us, and are available for personal interaction. The curriculum covers all modern technologies relevant at the global level. Examinations are above average. It depends on good time management.

Other: Students are also welcome to join various clubs, cultural events, and tech fests. You may find your seniors strict. But it is better to follow their rules since they may know something you don’t.

Placements: IIT Dhanbad is situated in Jharkhand, and this university offers the best placement opportunities for students. This university offers many packages. The highest package offered in this university is 80 LPA, and the lowest package offered is 20 LPA. Many well-known tech companies like Infosys, Microsoft, HCL, and TCS visit this university every year, and at least 60 percent is required for placement purposes.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of this course is very good for students. Many facilities are provided by this university, such as a 24-hour Wi-Fi facility for students and faculty members. Our university has many big libraries for students where they learn and study together. The university classrooms are very big and fully air-conditioned. This university also has many hostels for students. The food quality is also very good in the canteen and hostel.

Faculty: Faculty members of this university are very kind and supportive. They are highly knowledgeable and highly qualified. The course curriculum provided by this university is relevant for students in one semester. It makes students industry-ready. At least 60 percent is required for passing. Many exams are conducted in this university for students, so students perform well in their sessional examinations.

The campus has a classic environment, well-trained faculty, and good placements every year.

Placements: Around 84 percent of students get placed. The highest package offered is 58 LPA, and the lowest package offered is 15 LPA. The average package offered is 24 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart, Tata, Microsoft, etc., hire students. Around 60-70 percent of students get internships in companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. Roles like data analyst, operating system, ML engineers, and information security-related engineers are offered.

Infrastructure: All facilities are good in terms of academics, like labs, Wi-Fi, classrooms, and branchwise departments. The campus environment is very nice, with lots of trees. It has a pollution-free campus, as most vehicles run on electricity. Hostels are also nice. We get both good non-vegetarian and vegetarian food. Sports and games are excellent here. All required courts are available here. We also have a student activity centre where we play indoor games.

Faculty: Teachers are well-trained. Their tactics in designing exam papers are really awesome. Teaching is also good. They use the digital projector for displaying slides. They also use the smart board to explain. They will also update the course based on time and current situation to make students ready to face the competition in the industrial world with updated skills, somehow we learn them at least by clubs. The pass percentage is about 90-95 percent.

Other: In view of the present and future situation and the job market, in society, software engineers occupy major roles in development, so I chose the Computer Science and Engineering course. I think that some skills should not be taught through clubs, but should be a mandatory skill to learn by everyone through the curriculum. It is better to implement this in the present curriculum (presentation and communication skills). Events, fests and extracurricular activities organised are also good here as they are governed by students and funded by the campus and other local companies.

Honest review of IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.

Placements: Around 85 to 90 percent of students get placed almost every year. The highest package is 59 LPA, and the average is 24 LPA. Recruiting companies include Google, Zomato, and Blinkit. 50 out of 140 students got internships last year at companies such as Cisco, Google, and Microsoft. Roles offered include web developer, data scientist, app developer, software engineer, etc.

Infrastructure: Campus Wi‑Fi is available free of cost and for unlimited use. Labs are equipped with computers, although some systems are old. Classrooms are air-conditioned and very spacious. The best thing about our college is its 7‑storey library containing thousands of books, with ample sitting areas and a cafeteria. Hostels are small. The mess/food is the greatest downside. Currently, our sports grounds are under renovation, so sports aren’t active lately.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified, with all being Ph.D. holders. Some have advanced qualifications. Teaching quality is satisfactory. The course curriculum makes students industry‑ready. Semester exams are not very difficult, and most students get around 95%.

Other: I chose this course because it is Computer Science from an IIT, which is the best thing about it. I think they could reduce some theory classes and replace them with practical or lab classes. There are three major events/fests organised at our IIT, not including sports fests and sports meets.

A brief overview of college life at IIT Dhanbad.

Placements: Top companies include Google, Microsoft, Samsung, Uber, and many more that come for internships and placements. The average package for our course is 28–30 LPA. The highest package is nearly 80 LPA. Top roles like Software Engineer are offered. Overall, 75% of students get placed in our course.

Infrastructure: There are many hostels on campus for student accommodation. Each hostel provides all basic necessities like 24/7 cold/hot water, Wi-Fi, sports facilities, and a canteen. Hostel food is also nice and hygienic. Labs have advanced computer facilities with Wi-Fi. Classrooms are air-conditioned. We have one of the largest libraries in Asia.

Faculty: Professors are highly qualified and experienced. Professors are assigned as mentors to guide students. There are courses that give us experience in different working fields. The difficulty of exams generally varies with the professor. Some exams can be much more difficult than expected.

Other: Our college is the first IIT to provide a no-attendance policy. Students get enough time to build skills and can join various clubs. Various events and fests also occur here.

Great college with top faculty, strong labs, good facilities, and excellent placements.

Placements: As I know, out of 137 students in CSE, 122 are placed, and the average LPA was 27.5. The highest was 65 LPA, and the lowest was 6 LPA. Top companies like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon, along with other top companies, are coming for recruitment. Top roles like SD and other roles were offered at my college.

Infrastructure: As I was studying at IIT, the food quality was good, but as I was from the South, I did suffer; mostly people from the South will suffer. Wi-Fi is 24/7 available in the hostel, college, and library. Classrooms have digital boards and are provided with projectors, and everything is facilitated with air conditioning.

Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified and knowledgeable. As I was studying CSE, the course was a little bit hard to study for the semester, as the exam papers tend to be difficult. When it comes to the pass percentage, almost everyone will pass. It's hard to score the highest marks in a semester, but it's okay to pass the semester.

Other: I’m doing CSE at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, from the 2024-2028 batch. I chose this course because I enjoy teaching and wanted strong career opportunities. The peer group, coding culture, and project exposure are the best parts. A few subjects could be more updated, and the workload can get heavy at times. Campus life is lively with fests like Srijan and Concetto, good connectivity, and plenty of clubs and activities, so overall the experience is positive.
