IIT Dhanbad has been ranked 17 in Engineering category and 42 in the Overall category by NIRF Ranking 2023. Moreover, Indian Institute of Technology Dhanbad is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The institute is also approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
