Q:   Why do you need to score more than 90 in MHTCET Law to get a seat at ILS Law College?
A:

The ILS Law College cutoff 2024 has been concluded for the MBA course. For getting into ILS Law College in the next admission sessions, the candidates need to score more than 90 score. This is because, as per ILS Law College MHTCET Law cutoff 2024, the Last Round for all the courses was above than 99 score for the General AI category candidates, and the cutoff is expected to be decrease in future as going with the trend. So, it is better to stay on a safe side by scoring at least 90+, otherwise It will be difficult for General AI category candidates to get into ILS Law College. Overall, it's a good college. I would recommend it if you don't get into an NLU.
Placements: I didn't sit for placements because I wanted to pursue a Master's degree. What I heard from friends was that typically, one had to pay around Rs. 15,000 to sit for placements. However, since everything was online during our time due to COVID, the charge was around Rs. 7,500. Some of my batchmates did get placed in good firms like Khaitan, AZB, and Trilegal. That said, you needed a very strong CV for those opportunities, and only a select few were placed in such excellent firms.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are very old and traditional. The Wi-Fi never works, or I guess students didn't have access to it. The library is good though, regarded widely as such too. Since my hometown is Pune, I didn't stay in the hostel. My female friends used to complain about the strict in-time of 8:30, and most of them left the hostel after the first year. Canteen food used to be good, but they changed the caterer, and now it's meh. There is a ground, tennis court, swimming pool, gym, and basketball court.
Faculty: Course syllabus and semester exams are set by the University of Pune, to which the college is affiliated. Exams aren't tough, you can pass with a day or two of studying. Some of the professors were very good at what they did, and helped with LORs and any other out-of-classroom issues. Others were just teaching for the sake of it. Overall, I'd say it was decent.
Other: Attendance is taken very seriously. People have flunked one year solely due to inadequate attendance, even due to genuine medical issues. Campus life is great, you can be a part of the various cells, and take part in moot court, mediation, bail drafting, and debate competitions. There is an annual fest, a sports fest, and a theatre.

Good college, if you take efforts.
Placements: There is a placement cell, which has become more active now than it used to be. My review is for when I passed out in 2023. Some of the firms and companies are good, but you have to be at the top of your batch to get placed there. Among the tier I- Khaitan, Trilegal, AZB, tier II- DSK, Wadia Handy, LKS. Companies like ICICI Bank, ICICI Prudential, HSBC Bank, HDFC, and Digit Insurance, among others are recruiting companies. A few practicing advocates were also hired. The highest package is 17 LPA-19 LPA. The lowest salary is Rs. 30,000 per month. About more than half students got placed.
Infrastructure: The library is wonderful. It's 2 storied, stocked with all essential and even rare books and has access to various databases like SCC, Manupatra, Westlaw, etc. The classrooms are okay, nothing extraordinary, except that there's a Tekdi behind our building, so the views are beautiful. The swimming pool, ground, and tennis court are available for students only for certain hours because they've given it on rent for some time. Girls' hostel is okay, but overpriced. The condition of the boys' hostel is terrible.
Faculty: Course could be structured better, but that's controlled by SPPU, not the college. The curriculum could be designed like that of NLUs to make students more industry-ready. Some of the faculty are very knowledgeable, while others are not. Semester exams are not difficult, you can easily pass with one week of studying.

Would recommend that you proactively participate in everything.
Placements: Placements would beat par with mid/lower ranking NLUs. The highest offered was 21 LPA, and the lowest was Rs 15,000 per month. Almost half, or less than that of those who sat for placements got placed. Among the law firms were AZB, Trilegal, Khaitan, Denton Link Legal, Wadia Handy, and LKS. Companies that came ICICI, HDFC, AU Small Finance Bank, Welspun, and IndusInd Bank.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi did not work. Classrooms were standard. The library was great, its 3 floored, well-stocked with books as well as legal databases. The boys' hostel was in poor condition. There was no geyser, washrooms were unclean, and no one cleaned the rooms. However, the hostel fee was very reasonable Rs 50,000 per year.
Faculty: Some teachers were very helpful and engaging, the kind who widen your perspective, others were okay. Course curriculum could be better, but that along with exams was set by Pune University. One could easily pass with a week or less of studying. Some teachers will grill you in the internal exam though.
Other: More than the college itself, the student body was great, and will shape you. Law could be done from anywhere, but experiences in co-curricular activities were what set apart a college. There was always some session or event happening, debate, MUN, moot court, negotiation, trial advocacy, conference, annual fest, and sports fest. There was also good theatre culture. There were many student run cell that were active throughout the year, environment law, company law, competition law, criminal law, debate society, moot court society, etc. One thing I would wanted improved in the course was introduction of law subjects from the first year itself.

Life at ILS - Dream of any law aspirant.
Placements: We are the first batch of the BBA LL.B. programme, which started in the year 2023. So, as of now, I do have only the placement records of the B.A. LL.B. ILS has its own reputation, hence many reputed companies come here for recruitment. 30-40% of students get placed, and the average package is around 8 LPA (approximately).
Infrastructure: Our campus is filled with greenery and is very beautiful. We have a three-floored library and a Wi-Fi-enabled campus. We are also given access to many legal databases and resources exclusively, which helps us provide insights into our study and field. The classes are large. The only drawback is that there's no whiteboard; we use the traditional blackboard and chalk.
Faculty: ILS follows the curriculum of SPPU University. We have 2 years dedicated to the BBA programme and three years for the LL.B. programme, which I feel is a very thoughtful approach as we get to study both programmes one at a time in detail. It also provides good early exposure in the field of law by organizing various moot courts, client counselling, and other relevant competitions. Semester exams are quite easy to moderately difficult. Around 80% of the class easily passes.
Other: The crowd is excellent. Each one who gets admission here is exceptional. We have a strong alumni base, and many former Chief Justices are our alumni. It is a surreal privilege to be a part of this college.

Great college, can do better still.
Placements: About 100 students SAT for placement, and 50+ students got placed. Tier 1 law firms like AZB, Trilegal, and Khaitan came on day 0. Several companies came throughout the year, such as Teach Mahindra, HSBC, Welspun, ICICI Bank, HDFC, and ICICI Prudential. Practicing advocates were also hiring. There were more companies hiring than law firms. The highest package offered was 21 LPA by Vedanta, while the lowest was 15/20k per month offered by practicing advocates. Most good companies offered 8+ LPA. Recruiters greatly preferred students of B.A.L.B. over students of L.B. The college placement cell can definitely do better. They are not proactive and do not make much effort to secure higher placements.
Infrastructure: The colleges library is very good. Has Wi-Fi, subscriptions to major databases such as SCC Online, Manupatra, Westlaw, etc., and a good collection of books. Classrooms are average. The girls' hostel is decent but charges 2+ Lacs per year, which is absolutely not worth it. boys' hostel charges $50,000 per year but does not provide any other amenities, such as geysers, etc. The canteen is average. The college campus is lush green and beautiful, standing in front of the 'vetal tekdi'. It also has a field, swimming pool, gym and tennis court.
Faculty: The curriculum and semester exams are decided by Pune University and not the college. The curriculum could use some changes. Semester exams are alright; questions are very straight-forward most of the time. If you study half decently, you shall pass. Internal marks are decided by the college, and the faculty makes utmost use of them by grading strictly. Some of the faculty are very good at their knowledge as well as their teaching. Others are okay-ish.
Other: College life is vibrant here. We have a yearly festival. Moot court competitions, mediation and negotiation challenges, bail drafting competitions, and other such law school competitions are held throughout the year. There are various cells conducting both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Attendance is very strict, and if you fail to get the minimum required attendance, even if it may be for a genuine medical condition, you will have to repeat the year. More than the college, the students will teach you so much and expose you to various opportunities.

ILS Law College- The best law college in Maharashtra.
Placements: Approximately 120 students attend for placements and 50% of students get placed. The highest package is 22 LPA. The average package is 12 LPA. The lowest package is 7.5 LPA. Top recruiting companies for our course are AZB, Khaitan & Co, Trilegal, ICICI Bank, EY, etc. Around 40-50 students get internships each year. Roles offered in placements is a legal associate.
Infrastructure: Facilities for the course and hostels are common. It provides a library, mess, canteen, computer labs, sports ground, cricket nets, auditorium, moot court hall, conference hall, swimming pool, tennis court, volleyball court, carrom, recreation room, legal aid center, center for arbitration and conciliation, medical room, music room, etc.
Faculty: The course curriculum is old and not updated. Law subjects start from 3rd year and it is one of the drawbacks of ILS as it has to follow the SPPU University-provided syllabus. The new-age subject has not been introduced yet. Semester exams are subjective in nature but difficulty level is easy. Only scoring is very difficult. Students need 33% to pass exams.
Other: The best thing about ILS Law College is its beautiful campus. Pune is a great city for students. The college has a lot of activities like a moot court, debates, etc. It has a good alumni base and an affordable fee structure. The administrative department can be more student-friendly. The course curriculum needs to be updated. It organises fests named Legalease, Aikyam, and Kreedangan a sports fest. The connectivity is amazing as the college is in the city, and at its backside, there is a beautiful hilltop. It has a beautiful environment. Scholarships are available for girl students and students from economically weaker sections, and they are updated on the website.
