If you want to study in a cheap but stressful way then read it all. Otherwise think carefully!

Placements: 1. As is it clear from the name, it is a distance education course offered by a division of Himachal Pradesh University, Summerhill Shimla. So forget about campus placements if you are from outside Shimla. But yes, local people can attend interviews and can get a notification. However, you can apply for an accountant and other UG posts. 2. Out of 7-8 students I know, 3 of them are still studying and 2 boys are placed. I'll say less than 40% 3. The salary is not good if you're seeking a job within the state. However, you can expect 8-16 thousand rupees according to your skills and knowledge. 4. For a correspondence student, you can't expect any company. Except in the industrial areas of Baddi, Nalagarh and Parwanoo. 5. ICEDEOL offers almost every UG and PG course but the companies don't require any specific trade. Hence sales, marketing, clerical work is offered to UG students. 6. HPU regular classes have a wide variety of scope but for ICEDEOL college doesn't bother. If you got your admit card before examination then consider yourself lucky.

Infrastructure: ICEDEOL students have an advantage of studying outside Shimla. Tutorial classes are presented by govt. professors in many districts. I went to Dharamshala for a week and the teachers were good. But the course is only of a few weeks. They will send you books, forms, library card, registration number and study material also and you can also ask the query but they won't pick the call easily. Classrooms and labs are fine but what more you can expect from a local degree college. ICEDEOL, however, is a part of HPU. Hence canteen and sports facilities are good. There is also a branch of SBI in the campus. My friend who was living in the hostel doing B.Sc said sometimes the problem of water occurred in winter because below pipes of 0-degree water kept freezing but seniors and party workers are helpful.

Faculty: The faculty at the Shimla campus is awesome. The faculty members talk in a very friendly manner, knowing the fact they have tons of work to do. Some teachers also offered to teach in their free time. If you have any doubt, feel free to ask them but make sure they are not very busy otherwise they'll tell you to come 1-2 days later. Faculty ratio is good. Not more than 60 students per teacher but they choose the best among the students and tell them to help the rest. If you kept attending the seminars, you will surely get big exposure. Now they implemented have RUSA (CBSC) credit based system where 6 semesters of 6 months are there. Earlier, 1 year semester and 3 terms were very lengthy to understand.

Other: There was some pros as well as cons but if you complete the course, you'll be able to gain more valuable knowledge. Some of my friends don't like the system at all but I felt positive about this college because I learnt a lot, made new friends, went to some places with them and studied hard. I was also disappointed with ICDEOL's grading system. Because students studying in HPU or from any other college affiliated to HPU get proper assessment which in our case was not there. I got A and A+ grade during my school time and my diploma but they ranked us C. My friends choose to move on, some are doing M.Com or MBA and some are doing jobs in Chandigarh. I, who also got a C grade, cracked govt. entrance exam for clerk. I am doing a technical degree. If you can't pay much fee and are doing a job, then ICEDEOL, Shimla is the best possible option for doing further studies. But if you want more facilities, don't want to get bothered for small things like admit cards, date sheets, marks then look for others. If there is any issue, the college party leaders listen and help the students to solve it out. Even I needed urgent mark sheets during my second year, a student from NSUI helped me to complete my work within half a day. Even people from ABVP also helped even after knowing that I'm standing with the rival party member. There might be some politics but for ordinary students, they don't show any grudge. There are programs are exhibitions organised from time to time. It's your choice to participate.

MBA student of HPU (ICEDEOL).

Learning Experience: My course was an MBA, and the university did not give me any kind of experience because I was doing it through correspondence. However, it affected my career and skills very well. The con of the university was that it did not place me in a good company.

Placements: Only five or six companies came to the university for placement programs, and they mainly provided placements for sales roles. Students who had done an MBA in finance did not get the placements they were expecting.

Faculty: The faculty of the university was very supportive and cooperative. They provided us online classes for one week in each semester and after that, we had to give assignments.

Course Support: The course is average.

Hi, The application fees can be paid online mode via Net banking/Credit card/Debit card/Challan. The HPU ICDEOL 2023 Application fees are Rs 500/- (for M.A. /M.A. /M.Sc.
