Review of Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College.
Placements: Around 60 students get admitted to this course per year. Some companies offer jobs with an average salary package of 3 LPA or above. There are a lot of options for internships. Top roles offered are draftsman, JE, engineer, and others.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is huge. The building is neat and clean. There is a very good learning atmosphere for students. The campus is huge. Wi-Fi is accessible to all students. There is also a very good library where a lot of books are available. Hostels are under construction. The quality of food in the canteen is fine.
Faculty: Teachers are well-educated and well-qualified. They are appointed by the government of Himachal Pradesh. All teachers are very helpful. Their teaching experience is good. They support their students in every field. The course makes students ready for industrial activities. The course provides you with all of the information you need to know about the field. The semester exams are conducted by Himachal Pradesh Technical University. Exams are neither very easy nor very tough. Exams are conducted every 6 months.
Other: I chose this course because I have an interest in electronics engineering and want to work in this field. The college conducts a college festival called "TWASK" every year. A lot of activities are conducted every month or year.

You'll be satisfied with academics and faculty support but not by extra-curricular activities.
Placements: There are only 70 seats and only a few are placed because companies are not core companies. The highest package was 6 LPA, the lowest 1.2 LPA, and average is around 4.5 LPA. Few students in textile department got placed with 9 LPA package. Recruiting companies are not top at all. Most students got internship in these companies and some of them from ECE course got internship in DRDO. In ECE, top jobs you can get are surely at scientist post or if in private sector then VLSI is the role offered.
Infrastructure: College has internet access but Wi-Fi is not up to the mark. Library (that offers free books for students and fast internet) as well as labs are very good. Classrooms are spacious and airy. Hostel is under construction. Quality of food in canteen is okay and there is no sports ground available in campus.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, well qualified, and knowledgeable. Teaching quality is also good. Teachers solve your doubts both in the class and after it. The course curriculum doesn't make students industry ready. Semester exams are very easy. Around 70% students pass these examinations.
Other: Many cultural events and fests like TWASK are organised in college. The fest goes on for 3 days.

My college is JNGEC Sundernagar.
Placements: Only textile students have placement options. Other courses do get placed but with very low packages. For textile students, the highest package is 12 LPA, whereas for others, the highest package is only up to 5 LPA. It depends on your presentation skills.
Infrastructure: There are hostels only for boys, and not for girls. The infrastructure is also not that favorable, as it is a very small campus with very little space for students to hang out. The food quality in the boys' mess is also not good, as I've heard from my friends.
Faculty: Teachers are punctual about taking classes and providing study materials. They care about completing the syllabus for classes. The quality is also good. The course does prepare students. The end-semester exams are tough if students have not prepared for them.
Other: More fests and events should be organized. Sports ground for the availability of games like basketball and football.

College environment is good.
Placements: Placements in the ECE branch are decent. As this college is the only one in the northern part of India that provides a textile branch, the average package for the textile branch is higher, but ECE comes in second. The average package is 6 to 7 lakhs. Not many top recruiters come, but people get placed in TCS, Wipro, etc.
Infrastructure: The hostel is only available for boys, and every corridor is filled with CCTV cameras. The hostel food is good, and there is a ground available for playing. The weather is pleasant, and the view from the hostel is very enlightening. Double and triple-sharing rooms are also available as per requirements, and the rooms are very spacious.
Faculty: This is the only college affiliated with HP Technical University, which has featured in every single subject. All the teachers are good Ph.D. holders from different IITs and NITs. Every teacher teaches very well, and the core subjects teachers are also good. One semester lasts for 4 months, and you have to pass the periodic tests to appear for the final examination.
Other: Other scholarship schemes are also available. College events happen quite often. The college is very good, and the seniors are very helpful. The view from the college is also very good.
