Q:   What courses are offered by JIPMER?
A: 

JIPMER offers undergraduate, postgraduate, super-specialty, and doctoral programmes including MBBS, BSc, MD, MCh, DM, PDF, PDCC, MS, etc. These courses are offered in full-time mode. Students must appear for relevant entrance exams for admission. The accepted exams are NEET, INI CET, INI SS, etc. The institute also conducts its own entrance exam for PDF/ PDCC courses.

Following are the reasons to choose JIPMER Puducherry:

  • Attached hospital: There is a 2,000-bedded attached hospital with state-of-the-art preventive, diagnostic, & treatment facilities. This hospital provides students to gain real life experience.
  • Ranking: Puducherry JIPMER has been ranked at 43rd position under the Overall category, & 4th under the Medical category by the NIRF 2025.
  • Placements: The university placement rate is increasing slowly. 
Q:   Is there any fee refund policy available at JIPMER Puducherry?
A: 

JIPMER Puducherry fee once paid by the college students will never be refunded. If a student decides to withdraw their admission or leaves a course midway, the following rules apply:

  • Caution Deposits: The caution deposit paid by the students is the only refundable fee component & is returned to the student upon successful course completition or when leaving the hostel. 
  • Academic Fees: The entire amount paid at the time of JIPMER admission will be forfeited.
  • Penalty: For MBBS students who withdraw admission after getting a seat, an additional penalty of INR 10,000 will be imposed.
Q:   What is the qualification for INI CET for MDS admission at JIPMER?
A: 

A candidate must possess MBBS degree for MD/MS/DM-6yrs/MCH-6yrs and BDS degree for MDS courses of a University recognised by the National Medical Commission/Medical Council of India as notified by Govt. of India and Dental Council of India respectively and must have completed the required period of 12 months compulsory rotating Internship/Practical training in certain period of time. They must have scored the minimum marks in MBBS/BDS or equivalent examination. Minimum marks for candidates belonging to the SC/ST categories is 50% while for all other categories including OBC/EWS Category, the minimum mark is 55% in aggregate.

Q:   How to get admission in JIPMER?
A: 

To get admission into JIPMER, students must qualify for the required national or institutional entrance exam such as NEET-UG for MBBS, INI-CET for MD/MS, or JIPMER's specific entrance tests for allied health and nursing courses followed by centralised or institutional counselling. 

Q:   Does JIPMER provide scholarships?
A: 

Yes, JIPMER provides the National Scholarship for Higher Education for ST Students, which was formerly known as the Central Sector Scheme of Top Class Education for ST students. This scholarship is available for students belonging to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category who are pursuing their higher education at the undergraduate (UG) or postgraduate (PG) level in professional courses such as MBBS, MD, BSc, and Certificate, among others.

Q:   How to fill out JIPMER application form?
A: 

JIPMER application process for all the courses is conducted in online mode only. Candidates applying for JIPMER MBBS admission must fill the NEET UG application form. For other courses offered such as MSc (Nursing), MD, MS, MSc, DM, MCh and PhD candidates are required to submit their application in the prescribed format available online on the official website of JIPMER Puducherry. Below mentioned is the JIPMER Puducherry application process:

  1. Register online at the official website
  2. Fill in all the mandatory details
  3. Upload all the required documents in prescribed format
  4. Submit the application form
Q:   Can I get direct admission in JIPMER?
A: 

No, direct admission is not available at JIPMER. Admission to all courses like MBBS, B.Sc., and PG programs is entrance-based through national tests such as NEET-UG, INI SS, INI-CET, etc., followed by centralised counselling.
