NID Ahmedabad offers MDes programme at the postgraduate level that lasts for two and a half years. Admission 2024 is based on NID entrance exams. MDes is offered in 19 disciplines across all 3 campuses in the following departments: Faculty of Communication Design, Faculty of Industrial Design, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Design, Faculty of IT Integrated Design, and Faculty of Textile, Apparel, Lifestyle and Accessory Design. 

The overall cost of NID Ahmedabad is INR 11.4 lakh. The MDes fees might include mutiple other fee components that must be paid during admission. No you can not join NID Ahmedabad directly since admissions are based on  NID DAT scores only. NID DAT is two-step exam consisting:

Prelims: Objective-type CBT focusing on design aptitude, general knowledge, and observation skills. 

Mains: Studio tests + PI to evaluate design thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.
