- Registration - Click on the registration link https://admissions.nid.edu/NIDA2027/Registration.aspx. Select the program of study, and then fill in details like your name, email ID, mobile number, date of birth, etc. On successful registration, a unique applicant account will be created.
- Log in to fill out the form - You can log in to the account using your email ID and date of birth. Fill in all the required fields in the application form, including educational qualifications, contact details, and personal information.
- Upload documents - In the penultimate step, upload scanned copies of your signature, photograph, and category documents as per the specified format.
- Pay the application fee - Check that the application is complete in all respects because once the application fee is paid, the application process will be completed and the application can’t be edited any further.

Design Aptitude Test or DAT is that part of design exams that checks the creativity of the candidates. It is not easy to crack DAT section in a short period of time. The application fee of NID DAT 2026 for the BDes for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates is INR 3,000. SC, ST, PwD candidates only ned to pay INR 1,500. However note that the application fees for overseas candidates seeking admission to supernumerary seats is INR 5000. In case of the M.Des programme, the application fees for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates applying for one discipline is INR 3,000. For admission to the BDes course, students need to fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria in the first place. Candidates must sit and appear for DAT entrance exam to get admission for BDes course at National Institute of Design, Jorhat . Apart from this, the total tuition fee for the BDes course is INR 4.7 lakh.

There is no cap on the number of candidates who can appear for th NID DAT.
For 2025 admission, candidates can apply for admission and NID DAT. NID DAT was held in the month of January.
