Yes, NID Kurukshetra accepts the NID Entrance Exam score for admission. The cutoff score for NID Haryana is around 175 for the Open category, and the cutoff percentile for the B.Des course was 61.6 in the last round. The NID DAT cutoff marks are released by the National Institute of Design and include the minimum score that candidates need to obtain in the prelims and Mains exams. The final merit list for NID admission is prepared by considering the weighted scores obtained by the candidates in both prelims and Mains exams, with the weightage given to prelims and Mains being 30% and 70%, respectively for BDes programme.

The Open rank for B.Des at NID Kurukshetra for the NID DAT 2024 has been wrapped up with a cutoff score of 175. The NID DAT entrance exam consists of two sub-exams:

  2. DAT Mains

The final merit list for NID DAT is prepared by giving weightage to both the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains scores. Candidates who do not appear for the DAT Mains will not be considered for admission. For the B.Des program, the minimum eligibility criteria are passing marks in Class 12.

Q:   What is the application fee for NID DAT?
A: 

The application fee of NID DAT 2026 for the B. Des for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates is INR 3,000. SC, ST, PwD candidates only ned to pay INR 1,500. However note that the application fees for overseas candidates seeking admission to supernumerary seats is INR 5000. In case of the M.Des programme, the application fees for General, General-EWS, OBC-NCL candidates applying for one discipline is INR 3,000. If two disciplines are chosen, the application fee is INR 6000. Meanwhile, SC, ST, PwD candidate need to pay INR 1,500 for one discipline, and INR 3000 for two disciplines.

NID Haryana is the second-best NID after Ahmedabad.
Placements: 99% of students get placed in either through campus placements or self. The highest package offered last time in the textile department was 75 LPA. The average package is 12 LPA. A lot of companies approach including Daily Objects, Adobe, Microsoft, etc. A lot of students got internships during graduation projects. Creative director or creative head are the top roles offered here.
Infrastructure: It has a well-maintained hostel with decent means. Wi-Fi is good but can be better. It has decent studios and a library. It has very good facilities like AC, TV, and digital library. We have our own ambulance in case of emergency and a doctor is present on the campus. Mess is open till 1 am.
Faculty: We get highly qualified and reputed faculty members. They are excellent in their respective disciplines. To be frank, in-house faculty members are bad and need to change especially discipline coordinators and external faculty is good. We have 2 juries in one academic year and it is very subjective.

Good in everything, literally the best of NIDs. Majority of students are satisfied.
Placements: Since I am in the first year, I don't have a proper idea about the placements. But one thing I am sure is that our placement cell is providing placements to many companies all over India, as per the college's brochure. I have personally heard from some seniors that they also got many internship offers, thanks to the college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is really great and beautiful. Unlike other NIDs, this college's aesthetics is more like IIT. And talking about facilities, we have pretty much all the basic facilities both in college and hostel. The college has great high-end facilities like air-conditioned classrooms, good and secure Wi-Fi, labs with high-end computers and devices, and the workshop is also having everything we needed, such as metal workshop, wood, clay, laser cutting, and 3D printing workshops. And about hostels, we have high-end Wi-Fi, spacious rooms, and automatic washing machines. The mess food is the greatest food you will ever find in any college. Totally worth it.
Faculty: Teachers and faculty members are mostly guest faculty members (in the first year), but they are highly qualified. The college always takes reviews about faculty members and arranges them accordingly. The course curriculum is also very well planned and also hectic as *. But it's totally worth it. Regarding semester exams, we don't have an exam system but rather Juries. Jury is conducted at the end of every semester.
Other: Good community is built within the college, with a strict anti-ragging and discipline board.

Q:   How can candidates join NID Kurukshetra?
A: 

To join the National Institute of Design (NID) Kurukshetra, candidates must complete the admission process. This process includes:

  • The NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT)
  • Portfolio submission
  • An interview 

The DAT is a national-level exam that takes place annually. The application process is mostly online. 

The DAT is a two-stage exam. Candidates must first take the DAT Prelims, and if they are shortlisted, they must take the DAT Mains. The final merit list for admission is based on both the DAT Prelims and DAT Mains. 

To be eligible for admission, candidates must:

  • Have a Class 12 or equivalent qualification with a minimum aggregate of 60%
  • Have appeared for the National Entrance Test (NET) or Design Aptitude Test (DAT) conducted by NID
  • Submit a portfolio of their design work
  • Candidates who are allotted seats must pay a seat acceptance fee of INR 30,000 to confirm their seats. Overseas candidates must pay INR 75,000.

NID Kurukshetra application forms are likely to be released soon. Interested students can check the official site to know more. After the admission cycle starts, students have to apply online and submit the form + documents + application fees before last date.

The various components of the NID fee structure for the B.Des and M.Des programme inlcudes components like tuition fees, insurance fees, student activity fund, film club fees, and alumni fees. The tuition fees have the highest contribution to the overall fees.

As per the official placement brochure, the highest package offered to 2022 passing-out batch was INR 17 LPA. In addition to this the highest stipend stood at INR 30,000. The table below depicts the NID Haryana highest package:
