It offers BDes programme for a duration of four years in four specialisations. Candidates are required to appear for NIFT Entrance Exam and the students are accepted on the basis of merit.As per the NIFT Kannur cutoff 2023, the last round closing rank for B.Des ranged between 1084 and 3083 for the General All India category students. B.Des in Fashion Communication was considered the most competitive specialisation considering its last round closing rank.

While on the other hand National Institute of Fashion Technology, Chennai is one of the renowned campuses in India.It is ranked four by India Today 2021 for Fashion Design. It also has a good placement record where in 90% students were placed in various domestic and international industries with good compensation package. Even NIFT Chennai is equipped with state of the art faculties, well designed infrastructure etc. 

Thus, which institute is good totally depends on one's personal choice and preference.

NIFT is a national-level design entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). The exam is conducted once every year and it consist of two parts, i.e, first one is, written exam and second is, situation test/personal interview.

• Written Exams - It comprise the GAT and CAT. The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while only BDes and MDes candidates need to take the CAT. 
• Situation Test/ Personal Interview - BDes candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in the Situation Test, whereas PG candidates need to appear in a Personal Interview. The only exception is BFTech program, where the admission merit list will be prepared solely based on GAT scores.    

The FINAL score of NIFT 2024 for the other programs will be prepared by giving weightage to the written exams and Situation Test/ Personal Interview.

The scores or merit rank of NIFT will be considered for admission to design courses offered by the NIFT participating institutes. Currently, there are 18 participating institutes that offer the following courses - BDes, MDes, BFTech, MFTech, and MFM courses.

BDes programme is offered under four specialisations by NIFT Kannur. The specialisations in which the BDesign course is offered are Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Textile Design and Fashion Communication. The seat intake for each of the courses is 34. Moreover, the total tuition fee for the course is INR 12.34 lakh.

The application process for NIFT 2024 will be conducted online. After completing the application process, inclduing payment of fees, the candidate must download a printout of the application form.

In fact, the NIFT prospectus prescribes the candidate to “apply on time and keep a printout / photocopy of application form for further reference along with proof of payment.”

The NIFT 2024 application form is for admission to the B.Des, M.Des, B.F.Tech, M.F.Tech, and M.F.M courses. There are 18 participating NIFTs that currently have a combined intake of 5.215 seats.

Students are required to pay the application fee to submit the form and complete the application process of NIFT Kannur. It is non-refundable. • Click on “NIFT 2023 Results”.
• Enter NIFT Roll number, Date of Birth, and Application number.
• Click on the Proceed/log in button.
• The result will be displayed on your screen, verify all the details present in it.
• Take the printout for future purposes.
• Candidates whose name appears in the final merit list are eligible to register for NIFT 2023 Counselling for UG as well as PG programs.

Admission criteria for MDes at the NIFT, Kannur, the candidates should have passed B. Des or any other graduate degree in a relevant discipline.

• One self-attested passport size photograph with signature 
• Income declaration-affidavit (Format- B) on non-judicial stamp paper of 10 (Rupees Ten) by each parent.
• Proof of permanent residence.
• Photocopies of Passport and PAN card of parents / guardian and applicant. However, in case the student /parent/ guardian does not possess PAN Card and/or Passport, then an Affidavit may be taken from the student to that effect.
• School leaving certificate for class X and XII (Proof of school fee, wherever possible).
• The copy of receipt of tuition fee paid for the current semester i.e. July – December. vii. Schedule (Format -C details of agricultural land and property, etc.) duly signed by parent with relevant revenue record.
• Bank statements for the last 12 months for all the accounts mentioned in Schedule (Format- C).

• Vehicle registration copy
• Tehsildar certificate of agriculture land alongwith certified revenue records such as khasra, khatouni, etc.

The Basic Eligibility Criteria - 12th Pass. The candidate must have cleared 10+2 examination of any recognised board or he/she must have secured a passing grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

And basic Admission Criteria is the NIFT Entrance test.
