NIFT Kannur offers six specialisations such as (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication. Admission to the same is made based on the score obtained in two entrance tests, including CAT and GAT. Students who clear both tests are required to appear for the Situation Test for the final selection. The candidate should not exceed 24 (29 years for SC/ ST/ PWD category students) years of age as on August 1 of the admission year. The NIFT Kannur BDes admission process is simple and it is done in online mode. The details are mentioned below:
- Registration for Entrance Exams
The first step is to register for the right entrance exams - NIFT Entrance Exam.
- Admissions
- Go to the offcial website
- Register as a new user and enter your basic details.
- Get the email verified.
- Complete the form.
- Pay the fee with a credit card/debit card or net banking and submit it.

2. Release of Cutoff List
After the conclusion of the selection rounds, the institute releases the cutoff list. Candidates with a score equal to or more than the cutoff marks become eligible for admission.
3. NIFT Counselling
Selected candidates then have to register for the counselling procedure. Participation in this round is necessary for seat allotment.
4. Document Verification & Payment of NIFT Kannur Fees

NIFT is a national-level design entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). The exam is conducted once every year and it consist of two parts, i.e, first one is, written exam and second is, situation test/personal interview.
- Written Exams - It comprise the GAT and CAT. The GAT paper is mandatory for all programs, while only BDes and MDes candidates need to take the CAT.
- Situation Test/ Personal Interview - BDes candidates who get shortlisted have to appear in the Situation Test, whereas PG candidates need to appear in a Personal Interview. The only exception is BFTech program, where the admission merit list will be prepared solely based on GAT scores.
The FINAL score of NIFT 2024 for the other programs will be prepared by giving weightage to the written exams and Situation Test/ Personal Interview.
The scores or merit rank of NIFT will be considered for admission to design courses offered by the NIFT participating institutes. Currently, there are 18 participating institutes that offer the following courses - BDes, MDes, BFTech, MFTech, and MFM courses.
NIFT Kannur is a government institute. The National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) releases the official schedule at - niftadmissions. The schedule includes the event-wise dates related to the NIFT 2025 entrance exam. This includes the release of the NIFT 2025 application form, the application last date (with regular and late fees), written exam date, declaration of results, etc. Alternatively, the candidate can follow this page to stay updated about NIFT 2025 exam.
The application process for NIFT 2024 will be conducted online. After completing the application process, inclduing payment of fees, the candidate must download a printout of the application form.
In fact, the NIFT prospectus prescribes the candidate to “apply on time and keep a printout / photocopy of application form for further reference along with proof of payment.”
