Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) - Batch of 2025

Below-average college experience in the hills.
Placements: The students of my batch didn't get placed. I am a 2025 B.Sc. IT pass-out (same as BCA). Neither BCA nor B.Sc. IT had placements. Earlier, till 2017-18, companies like TCS, Wipro, and Capgemini visited, but since then no company has come to campus, so students had to search for off-campus opportunities.
Infrastructure: Our department is Computer Science, but the classrooms here are in very poor condition. The fans don't work, the lights are not good, and mosquitoes keep roaming around. The Wi-Fi doesn't work either. Electricity often goes out and comes back only after a long time. In the computer lab, the systems are outdated and run very slowly. Since the Wi-Fi doesn't work, we cannot make any proper project. The canteen of the college is below average, and the hostel facilities are very poor. The college is located in the hills, and the nearest market is 5–6 km away. Hostel rates are very high.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful but not well-qualified, and their knowledge is limited. They usually just translate what is written in the book into Hindi. Most of them could not get proper jobs, and as soon as they get a job, they suddenly leave the college. The course curriculum is not relevant and is outdated. It doesn't make students industry-ready. The semester exams are also not difficult, if you study the last 3-4 years' question papers, you can score well. To pass, a student needs at least 20 out of 70 in theory and 40 out of 100 in total.
Other: I did this course to get a job in the IT sector but can't get one, and my batchmates also have not gotten any job because the majority of students came to this college only for timepass. The course is outdated and needs reform, but this college is outdated in every term, whether in admission, fee submission, everything is offline. No sports facilities except volleyball. The campus surroundings are bad because nearby there is a garbage dump store where unusual smells come from. This college only knows how to loot students; they just increase the college fees every time. Please don’t come to this college, you will regret it.

Outdated college in every way.
Placements: They don’t provide any placement, just eat the fees in the name of training and placement fees, but no company comes. If they come, then it’s a marketing company that is just going to give you 2-3k, which is unacceptable. The computers are also so old they can’t provide you any coding knowledge for the interview.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of the college is very bad. When your semester ends and you get a holiday, after that when the new semester starts, there is so much grass in the college. There are frequent power cuts every time, no Wi-Fi, and if you are able to get Wi-Fi, then there is no speed, you can’t even WhatsApp anyone from that internet. Canteen facilities are also not good; they are just average. The ground is really pathetic, no sports in this college except volleyball, and even that ball flies away.
Faculty: Some teachers are helpful but not knowledgeable and not qualified. Their teaching quality is not good because they don’t get jobs, so they are doing part-time work here. The course curriculum is not relevant, we still study an outdated old syllabus that doesn’t make any student industry-ready. The semester exam is very easy, everyone can pass and you don’t even need 75% attendance. Everyone who studies just one night can pass the exam by reading the previous 3-4 years’ question papers in short and making answers, and learning a little bit in regular class.
Other: I chose this course so that I could get a job in government organizations like DRDO, NTRO, etc. I learned about B.Sc. and BCA on my own, not through the college. But I urge everyone, if you really want to make a career in the IT sector, you need to learn a lot on your own, no college is going to teach you. My wish would be to improve the outdated course which isn’t relevant, for example, we study data encryption standards that can’t even be used anymore, but we don’t study new techniques. In our college, there is no fest, only a money-looting system.

Overall, I will give 4 stars out of 5 stars, including facilities, placement, and others.
Placements: Minimum percent should be 55% with a Science stream, and mathematics is mandatory for BCA. It is a program to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to pursue careers in software development, database administration, system analysis, web design, and other related fields in the IT industry. And many seniors who have been placed in multinational companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for the BCA course typically includes well-equipped computer labs, classrooms with multimedia facilities, a library stocked with relevant books and journals, and recreational areas for students. Additional facilities such as Wi-Fi, projectors, and hostels are often available for students coming from distant places. The quality of food is good, available in the canteen, and we also have sports and games facilities.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful, knowledgeable, and supportive, and one of the best things about this college is ragging is not allowed, and also seniors are supportive and approachable. BCA programs often commence with foundation courses covering fundamental concepts in mathematics, programming, and computer science. These courses establish the groundwork for advanced topics later in the program. And core subjects delve into various aspects of computer science, including data structures, algorithms, computer architecture, software engineering, database management, operating systems, and networking. And overall, the faculty and examination system for the BCA course are an average college aim to equip students with necessary knowledge, skills, and practical experience to pursue careers in various fields of computer science and information technology.
Other: I choose this course BCA because I am interested in computer fields because they offer practical skills highly sought after in today's job market, and the best thing about this course is they empower you to create, innovate, and solve real-world problems using technology and AI, and personal growth and professional success.

The college is an average kind of institute as it is not in a big city.
Placements: There are few companies who comes to college campus for placements. Mostly we have to go to other colleges for the pool campus interviews and an average 15-25% of students get selected every year in different companies. There is placement cell but the city is not that big so we have to attend interviews in other cities.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good. Its in a natural place, away from the pollution and population of city. There are facilities for games and other things. The quality of classrooms are average. They need the maintenance. Canteen food and other things are also just average.
Faculty: Maximum faculty members are good and they teach well but the course curriculum is not that much good. They are not focusing on the latest tech but just teaching the old syllabus. So the syllabus and some other things needs to get update which will make the study environment much better.

The quality of education is excellent. The infrastructure is average. Placements are good.
Placements: The placement record from the last 4 years is excellent, and around 70%-80% of the students got placed. The students who have completed their bachelor's degree were offered a salary package of around 4 LPA. Reputed companies like Wipro, TCS, and Accenture, etc., visited the campus for placements. Pool drives are the only way to get placed. Around 10% of students also got their stipends during their internship.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is average. The college doesn't provide any Wi-Fi facility, and not even mobiles are allowed during my tenure. Computer labs and libraries are good. Playgrounds are in the worst condition, and there is only a volleyball court. The canteen is also average. Hostel rooms are good, and hostel facility is available on the campus.
Faculty: Most of the teachers are pursuing PhDs. They are helpful and knowledgeable. They use conventional blackboard method to teach, and there is a lack of smart classes. There was no industry exposure provided during my tenure. The student to faculty ratio is around 30:1. The course curriculum was revised last year, and some new subjects are also added.
Other: Fests and annual functions are celebrated with great joy. They conduct different activities on Saturday.

OIMT is good for education.
Placements: Only Infosys had come for placements and only 5 students got selected out of 70. The salary package was nearly 4 lakhs per annum in our campus. In our college, only a letter had been provided for an internship in our batch. There was no stipend offered to the students.
Infrastructure: Facilities were nearly good. Labs were good and well maintained. Wi-Fi was not available in our college and also, the internet available in the computer labs was very slow. Medical facilities were not available and some limited sports were available. Class rooms and labs were up to the mark. Food available in the canteen was bad as there was no quality in food.
Faculty: Faculty members were helpful as well as knowledgeable. They taught us on the whiteboard. They gave their 100 % so it was good to have such kind of faculty members. They were also friendly in nature which make teaching easy. Faculty to student ratio was 1:10. We didn’t get any industry exposure and my course curriculum was useful.

Eco-friendly college. College in place of mountains.
Placements: The only disappointing thing is infrastructure. Other things like study and faculty is very reasonable. Percentage of placed students is very low approximately 20%. Most of students placed in TCS or wipro and infosys.
Infrastructure: I have no experience of hostel and canteen food because I carry my home food. And lab is good and library also but no Wi-Fi facility. Infact mobile is not allowed in campus area. We can use mobile only outside of the campus. But personal laptops are allowed.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful but I think the course curriculum not make us industry ready because which is a good part because they give us knowledge not working style. We can learn industry skill after-ward but first we have to learn that "how to learn" .

Yes, students from every stream can pursue BCA as a UG course. But you'll not get admission in every other university. There are some universities which offer admission to arts students. You'll have to search for those universities and colleges affiliated to them.
