Pondicherry University - Karaikal Campus Review.
Placements: Placement is somewhere pathetic in our Computer Science department. The placement office says it's students' job to bring companies, but on the other hand, departments like MBA get good packages. Our MCA department's placement affects us, but there are a lot of opportunities off-campus. I cracked an Amazon off-campus interview with a package of 4.2 Lacs. I think 60 to 70 percent of students in our batch get placed, and finally, all are settled—some through off-campus and some by starting their own jobs. It feels like a happy ending to college.
Infrastructure: Pondicherry is a coastal area with beaches, and education here is the best destination. The general atmosphere is quite old-fashioned; boys and girls should not talk, and if they click pictures and send them to authorities, action is taken. The college has an amazing library where you can sit and study until 9 pm; it is open six days a week except Sunday. In the university, there is a network problem; connectivity is very low. Hostel rules are very strict—you cannot enter the hostel during class hours. Even the rooms are small for one person, but we stay two persons. For AC, you need to pay extra charges; I think apartments are more affordable than the hostel.
Faculty: The faculty has enough teachers, and all try to explain concepts in an easy way. Teachers give notes after covering the syllabus. They provide coding classes and placement classes along with regular classes. We also need to add our names to clubs to improve skills. Our curriculum provides a credit-based system; we can take as many soft-core papers as we want, but a credit of 9 is minimum. We have two internal exams and one external exam; the examinations provide both open book and closed book tests, which are selected by faculty. The system contains relatively marking.
Other: Alcoholism and gutka used by other students disturb sometimes.

The college infrastructure is really attractive .
Placements: When we talk about the placement facility of our college so no more famous companies come in this campus for hiring the students and the staff and the faculty who prepare the students for the placement is not so much good and the students get the internship from the outside sources.
Infrastructure: Our college has a good infrastructure and the college also has a good library and on this campus, the Wi-Fi facility is also available and all the students can take benefit of this facility. The college also has a good canteen.
Faculty: The faculty of our college is good. They have good experience in teaching students. They teach the students in a good way and they use the latest technologies and technological ways to teach the students and they also make the students industry ready.

I am dissatisfied with poor placements in the year 2016.
Placements: About 20% of the students from our course got placed. The highest salary package offered was 6 LPA, and the average salary package offered was 4 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was 3.2 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Wipro and Mindfire Solutions visit our campus for placements. A top role offered to the students is a software engineer. About 10% of the students from our course got an internship in Mindfire Solutions.
Infrastructure: The campus consists of PG courses only. The campus is not too large, but it has a very peaceful environment. The library is quite decent, with a good number of books. The library timings were just during the college timings. Labs consist of a well-equipped system and the latest configuration with high-speed Wi-Fi facility. The buildings of our campus were newly constructed. Classrooms were well-maintained with projectors, whiteboards, individual desks, etc. The infrastructure of our department was one of the bests on the campus. The hostel facility was good enough with all the facilities like 2-sharing rooms, individual beds, study table, chairs and cupboards. A mess was not that good, and being the north Indian student having south Indian food during the time period of the course was difficult. There were not many varieties in the food and quality was also compromised. There were no medical facilities, and students have to go to nearby hospitals on their own. In sports and games, it has a few indoor games like table tennis, carrom and badminton. If you want to focus on your studies or can self-study in peace, then it is a good place to opt for.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were really helpful and supportive. They were highly qualified, and they share their experience with us. Few teachers have great teaching quality, and they keep the session very interactive. They put their lot of efforts in doing that. There were many curriculums related to tech fest, personality development sessions, etc., which definitely helps the student to become industry-ready.
Other: I have chosen this course because I want to continue the same in masters. The best thing about our course is I will enjoy my coding with peoples with different states. Pondicherry University was a well-ranked university. I wish the college should provide a few more quality faculty members.

It is a good college if you want to do some research or self-study.
Placements: No students got placed from the college because none of the companies visited our college. Students got placed off-campus in companies like TCS and Infosys with a salary package of 1 LPA. The role offered to them was as a system engineer specialist. Out of 30 students, only one student got an internship from the college, and there were no placements provided by the college.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is too slow in our college. Books provided in the library are very old. Lab computers are outdated only Windows operating system is available in every computer. The food served in the hostel is very bad. Only South Indian foods are preferred. There is no canteen available on the campus.
Faculty: Some teachers in our college are helpful. Only a few teachers are qualified with a PhD whereas others are qualified with M.Tech only. The curriculum is not relevant, and this course will not make students industry-ready. Department is not trying to take any initiatives to upgrade course and to call companies for placement.
Other: I chose this course to complete my master degree. The best thing about our course is studying subjects like DBMS. Good faculty members will improve our curriculum.
