Q:   Is SCMC Pune as good as FLAME University?
A: 

Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication, Symbiosis International, Pune offers only one four- year degree program, BA in Mass Communication, with multiple entry and exit options. FLAME University, Pune, on the other hand, offers various Undergraduate, post graduate, doctoral, Diploma as well as certificate courses. Both the colleges hold a good reputation, however, if you want to know the best college then your choice of course will matter the most. If your choice is Media and Communication, then you can opt for SCMC as it specializes in that and has even been accredited grade ‘A’ by NAAC.

Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication was established in 2008 under the SIU  (accredited with A+ Grade by NAAC and approved by UGC). SCMC Pune has experienced faculty members and offers UG courses to students. These courses are provided across Mass Communication and various other streams. The college placements are good, and the infrastructure is quite good. Hence, it is a good college.

Each year, 120 students are accepted into SCMC's B.A. in Mass Communication programme

The Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication (SCMC) is housed under the Faculty of Media and Communication of Symbiosis International University (SIU). The department provides a BA course at the UG level. SCMC Pune admits visitors through entryway. This location authorises the SET admission exam.

The candidates will have to apply for admission according to the cut-offs as released by Symbiosis Institutes for their courses.

Only candidates meeting the cut-off marks of the above-mentioned institutes will be called for PI round.

A: 

Candidates must apply for admission in accordance with the cutoffs for their courses, as announced by Symbiosis Institutes. Only applicants who meet their desired institutes' cutoff marks will be contacted for the PI round

For the general category, the set cutoff for B.A. at SCMC in 2023 was 89. The final week of May 2024 will probably see the announcement of the SET result 2024. It is anticipated that the SET exam 2024 will take place during the first week of May 2024. These cutoffs will be available on the official website of each Symbiosis college. Q:   How is life at SCMC Pune?
A: 

Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication, (SCMC), Pune offers various facilities to its students. There is an “In- House Health Care Unit” which looks after the healthcare requirements of the students. The Central library of the Symbiosis International is located in the Lavale campus, however, the university has implemented KOHA integrated library management software for all the constituent institutions. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) are accessible from any location with around 283293 e- books subscriptions. SIU promotes games ad sports for student’s welfare and thus offer 13 indoor and outdoor fitness centres, Tennis courts, Basketball courts, Futsal courts, Badminton Hall, Gymnasiums, Swimming pools, Yoga and Aerobics studios, etc. There is a separate department of students’ welfare that takes care of students’ needs on the campus.

Q:   Is there a health centre or counseling services available for students at Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication?
A: 

Yes, Symbiosis Centre for Media and Communication has a counselling room where the mental health and well-being of students are taken care of. Students can meet with the Psychological Counsellors and get themselves treated for minor to major issues. The college even has a Symbiosis Centre of Health Care (SCHC), where the entire health of the people associated with Symbiosis is taken care of. 

Q:   Which are the cultural events that happen at Symbiosis Center for Media & Communication?
A: 

Several engaging events are held at SCMC. Few of them are Vaividhya, Madhyam, Anukram, Creaticon and Cinema Day. Vaividhya and Madhyam are events for students to enjoy, its full of entertainment and fun segments like dance, singing competition, debate competition and many more. Anukram is a event where the students meet guest speakers from the industry who talk about their experience and clear doubts of students regarding the industry. Creaticon is a PR based event which encourages student to come together and learn more about PR. Cinema day is another event held where all the students and faculty come dressed as a film character. It’s a entertaining event.

There are few more events held at SCMC, like photography exhibition, SCMC mela, IPL auction, and few more.

Q:   How is CGPA calculated at Symbiosis Center for Media & Communication?
A: 

The weighted average of each semester's GPA will be used to establish the program's cumulative grade point average.

CGPA = { (GPA of Sem. I) (Credit Points of Sem. I) + (GPA of Sem. II) (Credit Points of Sem. II) + (GPA of Sem. III) (Credit Points of Sem. III) + (GPA of Sem. IV) (Credit Points of Sem. IV) } / { Total CreditPoints }

Q:   What will happen if someone misses the internal exams at Symbiosis Center for Media & Communication?
A: 

For any reasons if you miss an internal exam, there is no retest conducted. The student will be given Zero marks for that test. For internals, a student can do better in other assignments and class test to pass the course and avoid a backlog but in final exams, missing it means a backlog. No reason is entertained. 

Q:   What happens if a student fails in the internal exams at Symbiosis Center for Media & Communication?
A: 

If a students fails in internal exams, a student is required to give a test and is supposed to pass it. A question paper is given to all backlog students and they are supposed to write it. If you fail in a semester/year end paper, then next year when juniors will be giving their paper, you are also supposed to give the exam that time. The Cgpa is highly affected by a single backlog also. 

Q:   What is the dress code at Symbiosis Center for Media & Communication?
A: 

The college is strict when it comes to dress code. It says only collar t shirts are allowed but anything which is not too revealing and not sleeveless with work. Torn jeans are not allowed here. Decent clothes are expected and if not followed by anyone, then the entire batch is asked to wear SCMC t - shirts which are provided by the college.
