It is a great and most probably the best college for science students ❤️
Placements: More than 40% of the students are well established after their B.Sc course, and after the M.Sc more than 80% of students are well settled.
Salary packages depend upon their work field. They earn between Rs. 25,000 (suppose in the teaching field) to more than 10 LPA (researchers).
Top recruiters are government, medical and pharmaceutical industry, teaching, and ed-tech companies. No students got direct internships from college. Top roles are teaching, medical representative, and industries related to medicine.
Infrastructure: Labs are awesome and well-maintained. We have the best-in-class infrastructure for teaching and for students also. Free Wi-Fi is available in every department, and classrooms are very well-maintained and air-conditioned. There is a seminar library for each department, and we also have a central library for more books. Library contains a lot of books, numeral documents, and other stuff. There's a hostel facility for PG students but not for UG students. We have great and most importantly cheap cost food available in the college canteen. Great quality foods are available there, and medical facilities are also provided. There are sports clubs for sports and games
Faculty: The best professors are available to teach us. Great and qualified professors take care of our knowledge. The teaching quality is simply great, no doubt. The course curriculum is more relevant and upgraded than most of the colleges, it makes us industry-ready. Semester exams are not easy but due to the great guidance of respected professors, we pass them easily. Last year, the final year semester exam pass percentage was 100%, and all credits go to respected professors.
Other: I chose this college to make myself more competent, to make a difference, and change the society in a positive manner. I believe great and humble teachers make it the best college. The political influence makes some bad experiences, without this, everything is just good enough for me and for other students. A lot of events and college fests are done by the college, and connection made us more competent. The campus surroundings are very good, and scholarships are provided by the government of Rs. 12000 per year (college course fee is around Rs. 6000), a lot of extracurricular activities are done in the college.

A good course to pursue for gaining theoretical and practical knowledge about physics.
Placements: It is worth mentioning that B.Sc. (Honors) in Physics mainly prefer to go into higher studies for Masters; that's why placement preference is significantly low in the course. Other than that, the college has a placement cell, which posts placement opportunities sometimes. Eligible students can apply through them and get placed based on their skillset.
Infrastructure: The course structure is very standard. The course includes both theoretical and practical papers. In the Department of Physics, all basic amenities are available. The labs are old but very good, well-maintained and air-conditioned. There are enough instruments in the labs, and with each passing year, new instruments are facilitated for lab upgrades. Lecture halls are pretty large and well lit. Projectors are available for presentations in classes. The department has a departmental library with a good collection of books and there is also a vast central library. There is no hostel facility for B.Sc. students. But there is a canteen on the campus, which is pretty average. Food is above average there but does not feel like value for money. Sports equipment is available in the common room.
Faculty: Faculty members are very good and knowledgeable. They are also supportive of academic problems. Lectures are held on a regular basis. Lab sessions are also conducted smoothly. Course structure and relevant curriculum require in-depth study of the domain subject. University exams are not that easy and thus require intense study and practice. Students need to go to other colleges to take theory and practical exams.
Other: The course is good for gaining theoretical and practical knowledge regarding physics and helps in higher studies. Programs, fests, sports, and exhibitions are organized at regular intervals. Scholarship options are also available. Popular scholarship options are INSPIRE, OASIS, and SVMCM.

Placements: This college is known for its best quality education. College provides placements to around 25% students. The highest package offered in this college was 12 LPA and the lowest package offered in this college was 2 LPA. Average package offered in our college was 2-3 LPA. Top roles offered in our course were intern, relationship manager, etc.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of our college was not very highly developed but it was of average quality. College has facilities like Wi-Fi, labs, library, canteen, etc. in the campus. Department of our course has good quality facilities. Hostel facility was available for the college students.
Faculty: Faculty of this college was overall very good. Most of the teachers were friendly to the students. All the faculty members of the college were qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality of the college was good. Course curriculum of the college was relevant. Some of the teachers of the college were experienced in the field of teaching.

Academically and Laboratory wise Excellent in Urban Region.
Placements: There are no job placements available for subject-oriented courses. On-campus packages are not offered for B.Sc., B.A., and B.Com students. Normal degree course students do not have access to on-campus job opportunities. The focus is mainly on Biotech companies, which are not located on campus. The emphasis is on academic excellence and the opportunity for further studies.
Infrastructure: I am unable to provide a detailed description of the hostel facilities as I am not a hostel student. However, I have learned that the college provides fully furnished living arrangements for the hostelers. Our library boasts a rich history of two hundred years and offers modern amenities, as well as a vast collection of diverse books.
Faculty: The instructors are extremely supportive, all of them hold Ph.D. degrees and possess extensive theoretical knowledge. This course is specifically designed for advanced academic pursuits and is not geared towards industry applications. The semesters are organized by Calcutta University, and although the pass percentage is low, if one studies in a strategic manner, the assessments are pertinent.

Our college offers good knowledge, exposure, and experience.
Placements: Almost all the students who SAT for the placement got the job. The top recruiting companies in our college include TISCO, Birla, etc. The top roles offered in our course are Masters from reputed colleges, IT sector work, teaching profession as a guest lecturer, and other facilities.
Infrastructure: The labs are well furnished with all the equipment needed for the practicals and are fully air-conditioned. Our classrooms are well organised and provide a good environment for the students to study. Our department has its own library. The canteen has some awesome meals, and the sports and medical facilities are also good.
Faculty: Teachers in our college are very helpful, qualified and knowledgeable. They are more like friends to us. The course is truly relevant because it makes one eligible to work in the industry just after passing out. The semester exams are tough but interesting. The passing marks in our college are 21 out of 50.

Not recommended for serious students.
Placements: I'm really sorry to inform but you shouldn't dream of being placed. No placement opportunities in this college. The chances of you getting a job by completing a B.Sc. course from Serampore college are extremely rare. The college has no arrangements for organising placements as well. I may sound harsh but mate, it's true.
Infrastructure: The college is quite old. The old buildings and classrooms are in a sorry state. However, I must say they are mostly well maintained and so clean !
Some rooms have AC which is a plus point. No Wi-Fi available. There is a library, however rarely people visit it because of less availability of books and that too quite old versions. There is no sports room/gym. There's a canteen but it's honestly horrible. No common room. For those wondering, there are NO SOCIETIES as in DU. So that's a huge minus point again if you were looking forward to build your CV.
Faculty: The teachers are qualified. However knowledgeable or not is a different aspect. Classes are not irregular but again, not regular as well. Punctuality lacks big time. The course curriculum can't be blamed on the college though. The University is responsible for it and again. It doesn't fail to disappoint. The semester exams, etc. Are conducted by the University and the marking is dependent on them only. You don't need to worry much about attendance and internal examinations. It can be managed.
Other: I chose this course from this college because it was the nearest college from my home, affiliated to Calcutta University. The overall teaching could be made more interesting. Practicals could have been made more lively. Government scholarships are available. Extracurricular activities like yoga, photography etc. Are organised once in a while. Connectivity is good. Campus crowd is a bit conventional. Fests are supposed to be held every year. However due to covid outbreak it has been on hold.
