B.Sc. (Hons.) in Statistics - Batch of 2029
Offered by Asutosh College

Asutosh College can be a good option if you want to pursue a B.Sc. in Statistics in Kolkata.
Placements: Companies like TCS, Wipro, Accenture, and Genpact recruit offering packages from 3 LPA to 8 LPA. I think it's average or lower than average, but you can't expect more from here (there can be exceptions). You have to go for off-campus placements for better opportunities.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure are average or above average with almost everything available. The quality of food in the canteen is good. There are proper medical facilities, sports, and the college also encourages students to participate in sports, games, and other activities.
Faculty: Teachers are well-experienced and knowledgeable. This course doesn't make students industry-ready (you have to learn other skills like Excel, Power BI, and at least basic coding). The course is mathematics-based so it's all concept-based. The passing percentage of semester exams is 40 percent for every paper.
Other: I chose this course as I want to pursue a career in data science later. This course is all theory-based which doesn't make students industry-ready (you have to learn other skills) which is a drawback and you have to do a master's to get a high-paying job.

The college has excellent faculty but poor infrastructure.
Placements: I'm not very sure about placements, but they are just average. The highest package, I think, is 6 LPA, and the average is 4 LPA. It is compulsory for every student to do a summer internship, which is free. The placement is not very good, but if one improves their skills. They can get a solid job from other sources.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not good at all. The buildings are very old. Classrooms have old benches and are run-down. The toilets are not clean, and roots are growing out of the walls of the toilets. The library is fine, with the necessary books available. There is a gym available too.
Faculty: Faculty members are great, very helpful, and knowledgeable. They help with all problems and even reply on WhatsApp. They are well qualified for the job. The excellent faculty is the main reason I took admission to this college. I haven’t appeared in any semester exam yet, so I’m not sure about the difficulty level.
Other: Our college needs many infrastructure improvements. The toilets, classrooms, canteen, and drinking water facilities are all areas that require upgrades.

Review of Physics B.Sc. course in S. A. Jaipuria College, Kolkata.
Placements: I was in the Physics B.Sc. course. There were no direct placements for my branch, but several companies like TCS had placements for entry-level jobs. Many from other courses did get it by clearing a written test and then interview. My course was not placement-focused, it was only to gain knowledge to help in higher studies. The college didn’t have any technical courses to speak of that promise placements. All B.Sc. courses were designed to make the student ready for Master’s and Doctorate.
Infrastructure: Overall infrastructure was at par with other semi-Gov colleges. Physics Laboratory was well-equipped with various machines, and recently new equipment was bought for Solid State Physics and Quantum Physics experiments. Both digital and analog equipment were present. Canteen was good and clean with a few seats. Wide variety of food at affordable rates suitable for a college student. Wi-Fi was available but only for its namesake, connection was too weak to work with. No hostel. Sports and games room present, including gym. Gym was not well-equipped, only a single multi-press machine with various small equipment.
Faculty: Several teachers were well-versed with their specializations and taught well, though not all, the teaching quality was good for several teachers but again not for everyone. The course curriculum is relevant for those who want to study Physics, computational Physics, and gain relevant skills. While no graduate course will make a student fully industry-ready, my course is effective at what it aims to teach. Semester exams were conducted by Calcutta University, with a passing percentage of 35 percent.
Other: I chose this course because there were a few very good faculty members. Events and fests were not common in my college, as is the case with small colleges in and around Kolkata.

Faculty members and infrastructure are satisfied.
Placements: In our batch, 35 students were there. Most of us were now pursuing MCA and some were in M.Sc. Few got internships in TCS and Wipro. Top recruiting companies were TCS and Wipro. Now on campus, they were not available but off-campus, they were there. The project we did last year was very helpful in our interview panel. From this course, we offered various roles like software developer or web developer, game developer and many which one wanted in their chose according to their course knowledge which we gained during the course.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure quality was good. Hostel was not available but the other facilities were well. Good hygiene quality of food available in the canteen. Medical facilities were available. Sports, games, and gym were also available. Wi-Fi, labs, classrooms, library, and all were well-maintained.
Faculty: All faculty members were very helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable. Teaching quality was good. This course was very helpful, as computer knowledge was required everywhere. As it was a practical based course, it made the students industry-ready. Semester exams were not much difficult.
Other: This course was practical based and made students industry-ready. The best thing about this course was that it helped shape the career path during the course. Apart from this events, fest, extracurricular activities, annual function, departmental function, connectivity with senior junior were all available. Scholarship-related help was available.

B.Sc. (Hons.) in Economics - Batch of 2028
Offered by St. Xavier's College Kolkata

Mildly satisfied with the faculty, great opportunity for creating future connections.
Placements: 50 to 60% students get placed, the highest placement for economics is around 24LPA, and the lowest is 4LPA. Top recruiting companies are majorly consulting firms, the best being McKinsey. Internships are majorly internal if taken via college otherwise, its up to you what you want to do for your internship elsewhere, but you have to submit a report about the same. Top roles offered are those of a Data Analyst and a Financial Analyst, depending on what field you want to further pursue.
Infrastructure: The course is really good, although no Wi-Fi services in the classrooms and on campus. Hostels are below average because you have to return to your hostel vicinity by 7:30 to 8 pm maximum. Library is top notch with really good space for self study as well, and you can study at a pace of your mind. The food in hostels is decent, the medical facilities are decent, and sports and games within the college are really good overall.
Faculty: Faculty is good, with them actually caring about the students and trying to maintain a healthy relationship with students. The quality of teaching is somewhat on par, and most of them are highly knowledgeable and helpful. They try to encourage you to study what is outside the scope of the syllabus for your own knowledge. Course curriculum is relevant as a subject, but no modern day applications are presented, and it definitely does not make you industry ready. Semester exams are pretty normal, nothing too difficult, and pass percentage is really high, with just 4 to 5 students failing in my class at max.
Other: Value for money 100% due to a reasonable fee of 75k per year, and the crowd is also good, although its just people from West Bengal and barely anyone outside from other states. The campus life does not exist because it is so small, but the events within societies are really fun and good, and you gain a lot of experience from them, with a huge scope for connectivity and extensive extracurricular activities present as well.

Great choice for the B.Sc. course, appropriate pricing, and overall development.
Placements: Placement percentages are relatively low since most students apply for higher studies. The average placement package is 5 LPA. The college also has a Study Abroad and exchange program with two US-based and one Australian-based college/university.
Infrastructure: Most of the classes have ACs, so summers are not very harsh. The main canteen is pretty good with both veg and non-veg options. There are other smaller canteens present on the terrace and near the library. There is free Wi-Fi available over campus, and the library is the perfect place to prep for any exam. I practically live in there during the exam. Weeks.
Faculty: It's really a great blend of academic focus and social opportunities. I was a bit nervous about coming here because it is known for being a bit of a schoolish college, but the day batch has significantly fewer constraints. The coursework is tough, especially in upper-level classes, but it is so much more than that, and I feel like I'm actually learning relevant things that hold practical value. The professors are extremely knowledgeable and very approachable. In case anyone has a good idea with good prospects, they would aid in funding the endeavor.
