Once SGSITS closes the application portal, the admissions committee starts with the screening process. Students who satisfy the eligibility process must register and appear for the DTE MP counselling process. Students who get a seat must complete the admission confirmation process. Other than this, the institute reserves 5% of seats under Unreserved All India (URAI) seats. Allocation of these seats is done via CSAB counselling.

For reserved category students, the admission criteria for Master of Computer Applications (MCA) at SGSITS includes a horizontal reservation of 30% seats in each category (UR, SC, ST, and OBC) for Madhya Pradesh domicile female candidates, and 3% seats in each category for candidates with a disability percentage of 40 or above and satisfying MP domicile requirements. Additionally, vacant reserved seats can be changed mutually among Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, and Other Backward Class categories. Admission is based on a merit list, with reserved category candidates being allotted first from unreserved seats according to their priority order of selection.
