JoSAA has released the NIT cutoff for various BTech courses offered at 31 NITs across India. Know here category-wise and institute-wise JoSAA opening and closing ranks for NITs such as NIT Trichy, NIT Rourkela, NIT Warangal, NIT Surathkal.

NIT Cutoff 2025: The round-wise NIT cutoffs 2025 for BTech branches have been released by the JoSAA admission authority. NIT Cutoff is the minimum rank the candidates must secure for admission to BTech courses. JEE Main cutoff for all NITs and courses is available on this page. The cutoff of NIT is released in the form of opening and closing ranks as per the candidate category. The cutoff scores of NITs will be different for all categories depending on various factors determined by the authority. All the engineering aspirants seeking admission into 31 NITs in India will have to score more than or equal to NIT cut-off scores.

Only the eligible candidates who have secured the minimum NIT cutoff marks can apply for admission to the respective institute as per their JEE Main 2025 ranks. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Main twice. As per JEE Main 2025 exam date, the first session exam date was January 22 to 30 and the second session was conducted from April 2 to 8. Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released NIT 2025 cutoff scores.

Factors determining NIT Cut off

NIT cutoffs are based on the following factors for admission to BTech programmes.

  • Number of candidates applying for the exam
  • Total number of candidates appearing in JEE Main exam
  • Total number of BTech seats available
  • The difficulty level of the entrance exam
  • Previous year’s JEE Main cutoff trends

NIT Cut off for Admission

JoSAA releases the NIT cutoff scores in the form of opening and closing ranks. Candidates seeking admission into 31 NITs, have to appear in JoSAA counselling without which their candidature will stand cancelled. NITs in India offer various undergraduate and postgraduate courses to eligible candidates for admission. Some of the popular BTech courses for which the NIT cutoff will be released are as follows:

NIT Admission Process

With the declaration of JEE Main result, the institute-wise allotment of seats for admission to BTech courses is released by JoSAA. Firstly, candidates who fall within the JoSAA opening & closing ranks for the preferred college and course are shortlisted for admission. Secondly, shortlisted candidates must participate in JoSAA counselling process for seat allotment at the reporting institute for document verification and payment of fees. Candidates are called as per the JEE Main All India Rank (AIR) and availability of seats.

Q:   What is the cutoff for BTech at NIT Andhra Pradesh for OBC category?
A:

NIT Andhra Pradesh BTech admission is based on candidates' performance in the JEE Main entrance exam, followed by the JoSAA counselling process. The Round 1 of JEE Main cutoff 2025 has been released for different categories of students belonging to the AI and HS quotas. For students belonging to the OBC category, the JEE Main closing ranks ranged between 5741 and 14452. For branch-wise Round 1 cutoff details, check out the table below:

Q:   How much rank should I attain to get a seat at NIT Surathkal?
A:

NIT Surathkal accepts JEE Main scores for admission to the BTech course specialisations and the BArch course. The cutoff is released category-wise for candidates belonging to the All India as well as the Home State quota. For candidates belonging to the General HS category, the cutoff ranks to get admission ranged between 3025 and 45579

NIT Nagaland offers BTech and BTech Integrated courses based on JEE Main scores for the All India and Home State categories. For OBC AI quota, the required cutoff ranged between 56910 and 109553. The candidates scoring a rank of 50k in JEE Main will surely get admission to NIT Nagaland as per the NIT Nagaland JEE Main cutoff 2024. Q:   I have 40000 rank in OBC in the JEE Main. Can I get into NIT Puducherry through this rank?
A:

Yes, your chances of getting into NIT Puducherry with a JEE Main Cutoff 2025 rank of 40000 are favourable if you belong to the OBC HS quota. For the OBC HS category, the cutoff rank ranged from 120407 to 424690, wherein B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was the toughest and B.Tech. in Civil Engineering, the easiest. 

However, if you belong to the  OBC AI category, while BTech CSE and ECE would be tough to get admission in, other branches such as B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering, B.Tech. in Civil Engineering, etc., might be easier to get admitted to. For the OBC AI category, the last round cutoff rank range was between 30526 and 83959
