GATE IIT MTech Cutoff: The cutoff for IITs through GATE usually ranges from 780- 900+ for the general category. This cutoff is mainly for top GATE papers, such as computer science and engineering, data science and artificial intelligence, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, electronics and communication, etc. For the reserved category, obtaining 400+ allows to secure admission to GATE CSE, ECE, and ME branches.
For admission to IITs through GATE scores, qualifying the exam is mandatory along with participation in the counselling process. All IITs offer MTech seats to GATE-qualified candidates via the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Through COAP, candidates can secure admission to IITs and IISc. Overall, the counselling is based on GATE result.

Factors determining GATE IIT MTech Cut off
The GATE cutoff for each IIT will differ, and all IITs will release their GATE cutoff based on the following factors: Candidates will be able to see the cutoff for all IITs on the official website of CCMT (Centralised Counselling for MTech). Look at the list of factors that will determine the GATE IIT MTech cutoff:
- Total number of candidates qualified in the GATE exam
- The difficulty level of the examination i.e. easy/ moderate/ difficult
- Availability of seats for a particular course

Commonly asked questions
Indian Institute of Technology released GATE cutoff 2026. The IITG GATE 2026 result has been declared. The conducting body releases the exam result and cutoff for all 30 subjects. The cutoff for GATE 2026 is available category-wise. Candidates securing the minimum cutoff will be eligible to participate in counselling.
Note: The minimum qualifying cutoff is different for all subjects.
IIT Guwahati has released GATE cutoff 2026 mark for all 30 papers. This year, for many papers, the general cutoff is mainly 25-30 marks. Candidates can check GATE passing mark here.
IIT Kharagpur offers BTech and Integrated BTech courses based on JEE Advanced scores. Based on candidates' scores, the institute released the IIT Kharagpur cutoff 2024 for various categories belonging to the All India quota. As per the last-round, the JEE Advanced cutoff for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering programme stood at 415 for the General AI category candidates. Commonly asked questions
Yes, GATE score is required to get admission to IIT Bombay course. However, aspirants who have not qualified GATE can also get admission based on written test conducted by the institute. The shortlisted candidates are further called for a personal interview round. In order to be eligible to apply for the course, an aspirant must have a BE/ BTech/ BSc/ Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Planning/ MSc/ MCA/ MBBS/ MPharm/ BPharm/ BDS/ degree recognised equivalent to BE/ BTech with a minimum of 60% aggregate (55% aggregate for SC/ ST/ PwD category) earned through Associate Membership Examinations conducted by recognised professional bodies to apply for MTech course.
JEE Advanced Cutoff 2025 for BTech course ranged from 126 to 5733 for students in the General AI category, so therefore a student should attain a rank of 5733 or preferably lower to increase their chances of admission to IIT Delhi. Please note that BTech cutoff 2025 will vary according to different rounds, courses, specialisations and categories.
