About the Symbiosis College of Arts and Commerce
Placements: Genuinely, we need to accept the fact that an M.A. in English does not have any good placements except becoming an English tutor. The college does not provide any internships; we have to approach some private coaching centers, which is the easiest way to find an internship. From a placement point of view, some students do a 6-month IT course and get jobs in IT companies, but most of us become teachers, government servants, or are still unemployed. If the coaching center is good, it offers a salary of up to ₹30,000 per month. However, most of the time, the college does not help you find a job. The fact is there are not enough jobs in the industry for our field.
Infrastructure: The college doesn't have a big campus; it is surrounded by 3 large buildings and a ramp area. There is no playground in the college, but the facilities are commendable. Wi-Fi service is available everywhere on the campus. Toilets and the college surroundings are always clean. The college library has many books, novels, newspapers, and study materials. We can take any book by just showing an ID card. The college hostel is good but not affordable for everyone. However, facilities like room space and hygienic food are well-maintained. The canteen is good and has beverages and breakfast food.
Faculty: I took admission here because the college holds a reputation, but sadly the faculty is disappointing. Rather than focusing on teaching, others are busy with fests and events. They do not clear our doubts, and no study material is provided for any course. Considering the college ranking, it is not good. The course is good in covering almost all aspects of English, from history to the modern era. The course focuses on literary theories and criticism like Aristotle, Roland Barthes, and so on. During the final exam, we need to write a dissertation on a preferred topic in brief.

You will get a great campus life with a lot of exposure in our college.
Placements: Our college is well-known for its placements. It provides a fair deal of on-campus opportunities for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Along with placements, it also offers a lot of exposure to make a student market ready. A lot of top firms visit our college during or after the third semester in August. Top recruiting firms are Deloitte US, EY India, Northern Trust, De Shaw, Honeywell, Infosys, ICICI Bank, and BNY Mellon. The highest salary package offered is 21 LPA. The average salary package offered for postgraduate students ranges between 5 LPA - 7.5 LPA, and the average salary package offered for undergraduate students ranges between 4.25 LPA- 5 LPA. The lowest salary package offered ranges between 2 LPA - 3 LPA. The job prospects for commerce programs are much higher compared to arts programs but being academically sound and with a proper skill set getting placed is an effortless task. In the previous batch, BNY Mellon visited our college and hired five students from M.A. economics. Internships start from the first year. Our college provides unpaid internships. Students got internships in huge firms. Students who are willing to do anything can grab any opportunity and gain hand on experience in their preferable fields.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our campus is not much great compared to other campuses, but it is well-equipped and maintained. Our college has all the necessary facilities like a library, laboratories, sports, a health center, a gym, a recreation center, and a wellness center. Our college campus has Wi-Fi, a photocopy center, auditoriums, a museum, an ATM, and parking facilities. The library offers a wide range of books and journals along with E-books, which can be accessed by using our college ID cards. All laboratories are equipped with the latest technology. The health center offers an annual full body checkup and other amenities. The department of economics library has more than 3,700 books and 42 journals. It has 2 laboratories and 27 classrooms with internet access. All classrooms have comfortable seating. They have smartboards and projectors, which help with an advanced way of learning. Our canteen is huge with various options to choose from and has a clean and hygienic environment. The hostel facilities are offered for boys and girls with a capacity of 110 and 150 respectively. The hostel rooms are fully furnished and have 24X7 water and Wi-Fi facilities. The food served in the hostel mess is very decent and tasty. The hostel residents can avail facilities including a common, a television room, and generator backup. The hostel fee is Rs. 1,45,000 every year.
Faculty: Our syllabus is well-curated and updated. The quality of teaching is good. All professors are knowledgeable, engaging, and supportive. They always help and understand the learning materials. There are a lot of seminars and workshops held on relevant topics. There is a compulsory liberal art subject to encourage critical thinking. The curriculum provides you with academic finesse and expertise in the field. It provides adequate exposure to make you industry-ready, and students will be able to apply economic reasoning to real-life problems. Extra computer application-based courses and languages are also provided like Python, Power BI, and Excel, which are required for upskilling. The term exams are conducted as per the timetable provided. Semester exams are divided into 60-40 patterns where 60 marks are for external exams, and 40 marks are for internal exams. Internal exams are conducted through assignments, presentations, and tests. All teachers and students are friendly.
Other: Campus life is entertaining in SCAC. The campus is small, but we make the most of it. There are different clubs organised in our college where people can sign up. Almost every day we have cultural and other events which are organised by clubs. An annual fest is organised by our college which is called Symagine. A lot of events are organised along with concerts and shows. The life experience is the best in our college. Our college provides many opportunities for students to grow. It is a great place to hone your skills and excel with the intent to improve and enjoy healthy competition.
