Review of Vignan Institute of Technology and Management.
Placements: The placement percentage is very low, almost 5-6%. The highest package is around INR 3-4 LPA, and the lowest is INR 1-2 LPA. No well-known branded companies have recruited from here. The internship percentage is also very low, and students often have to find internships on their own. Sometimes, the college doesn't grant permission for internships.
Infrastructure: The college provides Wi-Fi facilities. There are various labs such as a computer lab for coding, chemistry lab, physics lab, and labs for different streams, including drilling machines and lathe machines. Additionally, there is a canteen, a gym, and sports facilities.
Faculty: While some teachers are qualified, not all of them are helpful. The HOD is very strict and often doesn't assist students, showing partiality and targeting certain students. However, some other staff members are very supportive and do their best to help with projects.
Other: I chose this course because I love coding and aspire to become a game developer. The downside is that there aren't enough job opportunities. We do have an annual fest, our own hostel premier league, and several events and festivals are celebrated.

3.2
Dissatisfied with the placements and the curriculum.
Placements: The students getting internships in my course don’t get it easy. Also, the placements do not have good companies visiting. The placements scenario is the worst. Companies visiting to recruit offer a maximum of 2.5 to 3 LPA worth of package. In short, no placements are there.
Infrastructure: The college is located in a rural area, so the internet connection is not so good. In some areas, the network connection has a cross meaning no network. The library is okay and the classrooms are good. Sports opportunities are good but the canteen and mess are below average, the food quality is average.
Faculty: Some teachers are very good and helpful while the others are new to teaching, they are recently passed out students. The course does not make the students industry ready. Semester and internal exams are not much difficult to pass as it is in under BPUT, one can easily pass it.
Other: Campus life depends on the students, if the students are interested, then there will be functions, if not, then they won’t organize any functions.

Manageable infrastructure and good facilities.
Placements: The placements are not worthy. No good companies are visiting the college. Ther are no placements for the senior batch. Students choose to walk-in than the placement provided by the college. The students are good, college doesn't provide good placements but may refer to good companies. 15 to 20% of the students got internships from the college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is manageable. The infrastructure is good but not architect. Wi-Fi speed is good. The classrooms, labs are good and well-furnished. The library is good. The medical facility is average. The playground is also available for sports and games. The quality of the food is average in the canteen. The hostel rooms are good.
Faculty: Their teaching quality is good. The faculty are helpful and good. They are also well-qualified and knowledgeable. They also maintain a friendly relationship with students. Their behaviour is also good. There is no industry exposure. The course curriculum is useful.
Other: The campus surrounding is good.

Good facilities and faculty members but dissatisfied regarding placement opportunities.
Placements: There were't much good placement opportunities. Only 40% of the students might have been placed. The highest salary offered was 20,000, the lowest was 7,000 and the average salary might be 12,000. About 10-15 companies visited the campus. Most of the positions were for a software developer. There were't any opportunities regarding internships. There is a placement cell and the faculty members in charge were helpful but due to some reasons, they could't provide us much help.
Infrastructure: The facilities provided by the campus were good. The labs and classrooms were neat and tidy. The quality of food available in the canteen was quite good. I didn't stay in the hostel. So, I don't have much idea on the hostel room and facilities available there. No, I didn't face any infrastructure related issues during my tenure at the college.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers were helpful but not all. They were qualified. On an average, the teaching quality was good. We were advised to take notes in the class. No, we didn't get any industry exposure. Yes, the course curriculum was fine enough to score good grades.
Other: The Tech Fest of the campus was held annually. Extracurricular activities were included during that period.

The college is really good with good value for money and really good faculty members.
Placements: The placements are really good. They usually bring 5 to 6 companies for each course and all are nice ones. Some start-ups and MNCs come for the placements. 70 to 80 percent of the students get placed every year. It much more depends on the students how they perform in their interview period. The average salary offered was 3 lakhs per annum and sometimes even more than that. The placement cell always guides the student on how to crack interviews.
Infrastructure: The college is huge which is present on the outskirts of the city. There is a peaceful environment which helps the students to study without any disturbances. The college got all the facilities with high-speed internet for 24 hours, well-equipped labs, big classrooms, big library with every book available for the huge study place. It also has a well-equipped playground, sports room, gym, big canteen with value for money with very good quality food. It also got a boys hostel and girls hostel with full furniture. The course fees are very less, and there will be many discounts for poor people who cannot afford it.
Faculty: Here, all the faculty members are very friendly and always available to clear your doubts. All the faculty members are well-educated and can solve any problems they come through. The also guide well in your minor and major projects. Here, you get each and every course with additional MBA and BCA. There will be 1 faculty available for 6 to 7 students. They give extra knowledge which sometimes very useful. They do internal tests once every 3 months which helps to access our knowledge. The course is useful in many ways.
Other: There will be tech fest every year. Additional to that, there will be sports competition, cricket competition, seminars on various topics, workshops festivals, etc., which are very interesting.

Other: The college is located on the outskirts of Berhampur City in Orissa. Though the management speaks of the faculty as their key strength, except for 2 or 3 faculty members, there is no good faculty at all. The management recruits just passed out candidates from the previous batches of B.Tech by paying rupees 5000/- as salary and appoints them as lecturers. The facilities at the library are good, whereas placements are pathetic. The management gives false promises regarding placement assurance by CISCO, ORACLE etc. but the companies which come to placements are local companies which pay salaries of rupees 10,000-15,000. The level of exposure given to students is very low. Even though students are interested in initiating various activities, the management doesn't encourage it. They want to keep students under isolation so that they feel that their college is the only best option available to them.

Other: This college is famous for its faculty. This is best in terms of Infrastructure and other facilities, but Faculty is the backbone of this college. All experienced Professors and Lecturers are available round the clock to help students. Management is excellent; the classes are conducted regularly and it's compulsory for students to attend lectures and attain 75% attendance. Regular tests and Personality development classes are also part of the curriculum. One best thing is that the management focus on all round development to make student face challenges in the competitive world. College has its own cricket ground and Basketball ground. Regular tournaments are conducted among different streams to showcase hidden talent. The college also organize a tech fest AAKASH every year and they invite other colleges of the state to participate on various activities. The college has different clubs like Robotics, Coding and Mechanical design club etc. I would say the overall experience of mine was excellent and the 4 years I spent here were a life changing chapter for me.

Other: I am a pass out of this college. Here is the genuine reality of this college:- As this college projects itself that the faculty are its strength, but the faculty itself don't have the in depth knowledge of the subject. The Chairman, Dean, MBA HOD and Basic Sc.Humanities HOD who are trust members project themselves as intellectuals in their domains but they just have the superficial knowledge and just hype themselves. They appoint their previous batch students, who are unemployed, who have lost hopes on their career, who are basically female, who would be settling in their hometown itself or soon be marrying as faculty by giving a salary (sorry stipend) of Rs5000 per month and encourage them to do M.Tech in their representative colleges (these people act as brokers to fill the seats in those colleges). Here also they showcase these faculty as M.Tech qualified. As they are fresher’s, they appoint these faculty to teach wide variety of subjects and overburden with workload. These faculty directly teach from guides. These inexperienced low grade teachers are designated by college as "Associate professors". Some faculty do Phd for time pass and they designate themselves as so called "Professors". They have maintained the rules such that students doesn't get outside exposure and question the administration about various workshops, career-oriented growth etc. The Chairman and the trust members cheat both the parents and students with fishy tactics. They just spoon feed the students with the university subjects by giving notes, making classes mandatory etc. but they don't encourage students to think beyond. The notes given by the faculty members are just the xerox of the guide books rather from Prescribed International Textbooks. They also claim that, the notes given by this college faculty is borrowed by other engineering college students of the city because of the quality of reading material they give, The reality is that in other colleges faculty teach from International authors and give in depth knowledge of the subject whereby not preferring to give notes and wasting time from each classroom session. With this kind of spoon feeding, students come to the college for time pass and just read the notes pass in exam. Engineering is a professional application oriented course but a student studying here with just learn to mug up the things and vomit in the exam paper. Such kind of exercise which directly helps in losing the entire essence of such a great technical course. College claims that it has achieved 75% placements, but the kind of placements that it achieves is extremely horrendous. Out of batch of 300 they place around 100+ in BPO companies and some very small start-up which don't even pay Rs10000/- per month as salary. If students are placed in Wipro BPO or HCL BPO they give advertise that MNC's like WIPRO and HCL visit their campus. Even a simple graduate can easily placed in WIPRO or HCL BPO with decent communication skills. More than 60% of the batch remains unemployed and these students roam around in the streets of Bangalore and Hyderabad for jobs, also upgrading their skills by doing courses. If a batch passes out in the year 2013 then most of the batch members remain unemployed at least till a year. The first batch (2012) of students are still unplaced. When the students gets placed in a decent company with their own hard work by doing courses or getting references or from backdoor, they advertise these students for more than 2 admission seasons. The college also claims that it encourages courses like Auto CAD, Oracle, .net etc. but they just club the subjects like DBMS (Database management systems) lab, charge extra money for the course, and give certificates that the student is Oracle Certified. He also just replicates the guide and takes few lines from textbook while teaching. He can’t even clear in depth conceptual doubts of students. When a student asks such, he simply bluffs confidently. Similar, is the case of Dean, MBA HOD and Basic Science and Humanities HOD. The Chairman is too clever that he encourages existing students to act as brokers for admission. If an existing student get a candidate for admission, then the existing student gets commission. The existing students fall in such trap out of greediness and the chairman solves his purpose.
