The Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) are the institutes offering specialised courses in IT domain. The total 4-year B.Tech fee at Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) ranges from INR 8 lakhs to INR 23 lakhs, depending on whether the institute is publicly funded, run under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), or independently chartered like IIIT Hyderabad or IIIT Delhi.

Fee structures for IIITs: The fee structure for BTech in IIITs has been released. Candidates can check complete IIITs fee structure in this page. In addition, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JosAA) portal also uploads the list of fees for BTech programs. Candidates can refer to the fees during the counselling period to know the payable amount.
Fees payable to all the IIITs include tution fees, hostel and mess fees that are to be paid subsequently semester-wise. There are also fees such as caution money and one-time deposits that are refundable by the end of the programmes. The fees other than caution deposit, one-time deposit, and those other refundable fees are to be paid every semester. The semester-wise pattern breakup for the fee structure in IIITs is uniform. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category are exempted from paying tuition fees in most of the institutes listed below. Some of the institutes have also reduced the institute fees for students belonging to these categories.

IIIT Fee Structure 2026
Admission to IIITs is through JEE Main scores. The counselling is organised by JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) for the allotment of the seats to all the IIITs considering certain factors such as category (Gen, OBC, SC, ST, and PD) of the candidate, candidate’s position in the rank list, availability of the programmes opted by the candidate and also the availability of seats in each of the categories. A score of 70 marks in JEE Mains is considered average to below-average for General category students. This corresponds to a percentile around 88 to 91.
JEE Main difficulty level is similar to class 12 board exams. Syllabus of JEE Main is similar to class 11 and 12 syllabus. Clearing the JEE Main exam in first attempt is not a difficult task. Several students clear JEE Main while in class 12. One thing that makes it easy to clear JEE Main with class 12 is that students are in regular touch of most JEE syllabus. To score good marks in JEE Main in the first attempt, it is advised that you study class 11 and 12 topics thoroughly, clear all the concepts and solve mock test papers. Also, NCERT books which you study in class 11 and 12 are the best books for JEE Main preparation. Students must study NCERT properly and solve all the questions in the book and do not memorize the concepts as some students do rather understand the concepts.
Students who are in class 12 and would also be appearing in JEE Mains exam mostly find it difficult to manage both their class/school and JEE studies. However, all these students have an advantage over others/droppers aspirants as there are many common topics in class 12 and JEE.
To benefit, they must identify all the topics that are common and study those first. Secondly, cover the topics that have more weightage in class 12 and complete them. Before a few days of JEE Mains, study specifically for JEE. This way, they can manage both class 12 and JEE efficiently.
The difficulty level of JEE Main exam is a little high than the class 12 board exams. Students who are studying in class 12 can score good marks in JEE Main by studying a little extra for the JEE. Students who have studied NCERT textbooks of Physics Chemistry and Mathematics thoroughly can get good marks. The joint Entrance Examination, popularly known as JEE Main is for admission into NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs for B.Tech and architecture courses in India.
