5 unusual ways to select a college
With more than 700 universities and around 35,000 affiliated institutions in the country, selecting the perfect college for higher education can certainly be a daunting task. Some college may have the perfect faculty while others might have a lush green campus. However, as per us that is not the criterion on which you should select your college.
Thus, to help you narrow down your list of prospective colleges which can definitely help shape a brighter future for you, we bring you some guidelines. Go through our unusual pointers and you might be surprised how these perfect-for-you premiere institutes in India end up projecting themselves online/offline:
Explore colleges based on VITEEE
Antique website
If the website of the institute/college looks like it hasn’t been updated since say 1994 then that college is definitely worth considering, after all they have been so busy creating the future engineers, doctors and other graduates/post-graduates that they have absolutely no interest or time to fill-up the required information on the official website.
So, friends if you see ‘latest news’ flashing on an institute’s website which talks about the placements of students who have passed out in the year 2001 then make your moves fast and enroll there asap.
Contact point does not exist
Okay, the next criteria for selecting the perfect college is to find out if the email ids, helpline numbers or the phone numbers listed in the ‘contact us’ section of the college website/admission brochure actually work. If dialing the numbers mentioned gets you the following response – “The number you are trying does not exist”, then give that college a thumbs up and seriously consider putting it in the ‘top 10 colleges I should join’ list.
Where is the photo gallery?
If there is no visual representation anywhere of the college, then either the college is just too damn beautiful to look at (please figure out the sarcasm in the tone on your own) or it’s just that people in authority feel ambiance is not the reason why students join an educational institute. So if a college follows this thought process, you should definitely consider making it your alma-mater.
Interpreter/translator required
Consider yourself to be the luckiest person alive on planet Earth if your phone call is picked up at the “number one” college in your priority list. Our word of advice here is don’t break into your victory dance just yet because the battle has just begun! Believe us because we have gone through this and know what it feels like.
Most of the times, no one takes the call and if someone does, he or she is so quick to reply to what you say and slam the phone, that you end up spending the next half hour trying to understand what it actually meant.
Caution: Refrain from making such calls because one call to clear a single query can sometimes mysteriously lead to another 5-6 queries.
Interesting entrance exam names
Okay, now we are simply being mean but can you really blame us. We find it extremely difficult to even pronounce some of the CET names. And here we are just trying to figure out why entrance exams are given weird names. We know that students feel exams are “eeeww” but are we not taking their feelings too seriously by naming exams as: VITEEE, KIITEE, UPSEE, SRMJEEE etc.
We are seriously not exaggerating, but if you feel so, do a quick research of your own. You would be surprised to find that many of the great institutes of our country fall in either of the categories mentioned above.
We are not just being sarcastic here but are pointing out facts as well. It is high time college websites and helplines should start providing students the required information because that is the primary reason they need to fulfill. We know the institutes are simply awesome in themselves but in today’s age of information – communication is the key to success.
