Dr. Aarti Sharma, Assistant professor, School of Technology Management and Engineering, NMIMS has done Ph.D. in nanotechnology from I.I.T. Roorkee. She has published 7 international papers and presented research papers in many national and international journals.

Q. What are the salient features of the teaching methodology adopted by your college? How does this differ from others?
The salient features of the teaching methodology adopted by our college are:

  • Teaching scientific ways of thinking
  • Teaching methodology involves using smartboard, slides, video, flip session learning, computer simulations to enhance presentations
  • Helping students to develop a conceptual framework as well as to develop problem-solving skills
  • In technology subject, laboratory sessions are conducted to develop experimental and data analysis skills and implication of theoretical concepts to experimental phenomenon

We are preparing students to be industry-ready by

  • Promoting student activities where the students can learn through group activity, participating in inter and intra college event, guest Technical lectures and Industrial visits
  • Projects are given students to able to apply knowledge learned in the classroom to the real-world problems
  • Students are encouraged to do online courses on coursera, MOOOC’s etc, designed by experts such as Stanford professors

Q. What are the qualities you are looking for in student applicants? What qualities do they need to do well in your course?

For students to excel in any field we want our students to be: intellectually curious, pro-active, self-driven, good time management, good writing and verbal communication skill, performing under pressure and in groups and zeal to be future leaders

Q. How do you ensure that your course curriculum is up to date and meets industry requirements?

Course curriculum designed by industry experts like TCS designed B.Tech program (Computer science and business system)

  • MBATech is 5 years integrated dual degree (B. Tech + MBA) to meet the growing need of Technopreneurs
  • Summer Internships are compulsory from 3rd year onward for B.Tech and MBATech students to be industry-ready
  • The periodical evaluation of syllabus and its implementation will be based on feedback from students, faculty, and industry to ensure the relevance of the program to the industry needs

Q. Is your college receptive to innovation, technology, science & entrepreneurship? How? Could you cite some examples of these?

Students are encouraged to work on real-life problem projects viz, energy crisis and environment crisis

Technical workshops are conducted by industrial experts in the current area of innovation and development

Faculties are provided with funds to do research and publish research papers
