I think that a career should be selected on the basis of our own interests, and not under the, says Olivadhani
I scored good marks in the Class 10 public examination and my teachers insisted to choose Mathematics oriented course in which I can learn a lot and shine more. But, I was interested in computer basics and languages so there was an idea of choosing computer science. When I was in Class 12, I thought that I can learn more by learning programming, coding and computer language. In this way, I continued my studies in Higher Secondary. When I was inspired by tall buildings like Burj Khalifa, Shanghai Tower and Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel shapes, aesthetic view, its innovative design and with the projections and interior designing, I have decided to set Engineering as my career.
Then I finished my schooling and stepped into the next step of my life. I preferred to join in BTech Civil Engineering Programme. I felt that the Civil engineering course provides plenty of opportunities like Design engineer, interior designer, which is good.
I wanted to get admitted to a college/ University with a green environment, good infrastructure and very good lab facilities. I never undergo any coaching classes for my higher study. Career selection is the most important and toughest phase of a student’s life. I think that a career should be selected on the basis of our own interests, and not under the pressure of anyone. I discussed with my friends and my parents for getting admission in BTech Civil Engineering Programme.

I applied to three Engineering colleges near my hometown. Meanwhile, I heard about the academic excellence, infrastructure facilities and Hostel facilities of Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology and got impressed. Finally, I decided to apply for BTech Civil Engineering Programme in PMIST and got admitted. My family, especially my loving mother was really very happy as I got admission to this reputed institution. I think I preferred the right career for me as it was my decision; nobody forced me to do that. So, I am very happy about my decision.
Coming to the learning and insights, my institute offers a good academic boundary with facilities such as a Free Wi-Fi campus, beautiful atmosphere and zero-carbon and green campus, world-class labs, a big library and smart classrooms. I have learned a lot of new things. The institution plays a major role in shaping our careers through social activities. It gives us the opportunity to explore and enhance our skills through co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The faculty members are always motivating us to develop my future in the best way. I felt that If I never polish my talents during my study or do anything apart from the syllabus, I hope that it will worthless after those four years. I found the solution here in PMIST that the Institute offers the platform to learn almost all required software related to drawing, modeling and design along with the regular syllabus as Value added courses.
During this pandemic situation, I attended my fresher’s day and classes in online mode. Initially, it was a struggle to adapt to the classes online. Later the classes were quite interesting and much easier to learn. I am really happy and very much interested to go to the institution to attend the classes in the usual way.
As I am willing to be a good Design Engineer, I will continue my higher studies to MTech Structural engineering
