I think my journey is similar to most of the aspirants appearing for university admissions. Those four months, i.e., from January to April is one hell of a ride. With boards, and competitive exams like JEE Main, BITSAT, VITEEE etc lined up one after the other.

I was just another student who wanted to make it to the IITs. I scored 91? in my Class 10 board exams and took Science. Mathematics was my core subject. I too had a masterplan ready with IIT Kharagpur as my dream college. I had already decided to be a Mechanical Engineer. But now I suggest that if deciding the field is tedious then you should take your time, read the principles and future subjects in the field and then decide what to take. I did not perform well in my boards as I joined JEE coaching and ended up scoring 84% only. I did not perform too well in JEE Main as well and scored just 117. Although I was eligible for JEE Advanced, I knew I was not going to get the required marks.

Now begins the real trauma, l wanted to be in a college with healthy brains and great exposure where we would stroll all day and have fun, make a prototype car or maybe a great new machine. I wanted my college to have all the sports facilities and much more was on my list. I began surfing a lot, collecting information on colleges in India. I was in a dilemma whether to choose an engineering field or the college because in some cases I got a very good college but not the field I was interested in. I decided to go with the engineering field as my priority.

Now among all the colleges in my proximity, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) was the best. I wanted to get admission in the college desperately. In the first round of counselling, I didn't get any seat in the field I was interested in. I knew I would get a seat but still didn't take the seat. So, I was thrown out of the admission process basis the All India Rank but I knew I still had Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) rank which was good to get admission, but I could not get admission basis that also. Now, I had no option other than to switch to another college. I was gloomy for over a month in that college and also planned to take a drop year but then ACPC introduced a third round wherein I participated and I got the admission in the college of my choice with the field I wanted to study.

Now, I am studying at PDPU, Gujarat. It is a great university and I am enjoying my bachelor's degree course.
