Mystory@Samit Banerjee: How I chose my stream after class X

1 min readUpdated on May 10, 2017 18:01 IST

I did my Matriculation from DeNobili School CMRI, Dhanbad. I passed with good marks and I wantes to take up Commerce as my subject in Class XI because I loved Accountancy and Economics. Since my marks at ICSE level were good, my parents forced me to take Pure Science as specialization at 10+2 level and unwillingly I did so and completed it. I was an introvert and was unable to protest in front of anyone whenever it came to decision making regarding my career. I am not happy with whatever I am doing.

The only deciding factor of my stream selection was my parents wish. After completing Class XII I wanted to study Chartered Accountancy but again my parents’ wish came in the way. I was forcibly made to appear for the Engineering Joint Entrance examinations and I cracked AIEEE with a state rank 15 in the Architecture segment and also got a good rank in WBJEE. Hence, I had to pursue engineering, again unwillingly.

Initially I was unable to concentrate on my BTech as I always wanted to pursue CA. Although I used to score well in my examinations yet somewhere in my mind I was not satisfied. I used to talk to my friends who were studying CA and used to feel anxious about their undertakings. I got selected for Wipro Technologies as Project Engineer in Campus Selection but out of discontent and frustration I didn't accepted the offer and got involved with one of the upcoming web development companies in Kolkata, WOOPIT, as working partner. There I didn’t have a good experience and thus did not take up another job. I tried setting up business instead.

Right now I am involved in helping poor and needy people and writing blogs.
