Students' Speak: All you need to know about KCET
By: Ranjith AV
Solving as many questions will help you get more and more skilled. Taking mock tests as soon as you read the topic is good for you to know how confident you are in those topics.
For the KCET entrance exam, you should prepare well for your 12th examinations. Mostly, the syllabus is the same for both the exams.
So study as usual but before reading other study materials, first, complete reading your NCERT textbooks and then study proceed towards anything else. In KCET, Chemistry is the scoring subject because more or less every question is taken from NCERT. So, complete all those before the last week of the exam. The right way of reading as per me is making a summary of what you are reading which will also help you during the last week of your preparation when you cannot go through the whole syllabus. Make your own timetable and give 1 hour daily for solving KCET problems.
To score high in the KCET exam by preparing in the last month -
During the last month before your exam, if you are done with your board exams, solve the problems related to the KCET exam from books written by authorized VTU lecturers. If your board exam is not over then simply concentrate on your board exams because half of your KCET marks is based on your board exams.
Solving as many questions will help you get more and more skilled. Taking mock tests as soon as you read the topic is good for you to know how confident you are in those topics. So take mock tests and evaluate yourself. But during the last week of the exam, you must go through the summary and formulae which you have jotted down.
What if your entrance score is low or below your expectations -
First of all, there is no such thing called a low score until you are committed to a definite college and definite course or branch. So If you are interested in a definite course and definite college you should get a good rank as required but if you can't then also don't worry because there are many colleges which also provide admission at low scores.
After your first KCET counselling if your rank is less than the cutoff rank which is needed then just wait for the next round. Generally, the KEA board conducts 3 round counseling so wait until the last round.
