BMS College of Engineering Hostel and Residential Facilities
BMS College of Engineering (BMSCE) provide accommodation to the students wishing to reside in the hostels. The hostels are an independent unit, and the internal administration is taken care of by the council of wardens and the hostel management. The hostels are located on the southern side, adjacent to the college campus. There is a separate hostel office and mess within the hostel premises. The mess has a centralised modern kitchen and a separate dining hall for boys and girls. The layout of the hostel complex is given below:
HOSTEL UNIT-I: MAIN HOSTEL: The Indian Main Hostel for male students is spread across an area of 39,000 sq. ft.. The area is comprised of the ground floor and two floors with a small basement. The hostel can accommodate 150 pre-final and final year students in single rooms. The facilities in this hostel include
- Water heaters with a capacity of 3000 litres per day
- TV lounge
- Volleyball Court
- Indoor games like Carom Board and Table Tennis

GIRLS' HOSTEL BLOCK UNIT-II: This block accommodates female students and is spread across an area of 42,586 sq. feet. The hostel has a ground floor plus 5 floors, consisting of 125 fully furnished rooms. The rooms at this hostel are offered on a twin-sharing basis. The warden's office, visitors lounge, reading room, kitchen and dining hall are located in the basement. The hostel also has:
- TV lounges on alternate floors
- Reading rooms on alternate floors
- Lounge on the top floor, accommodating indoor games, including indoor games like table tennis, etc.
- Solar water heaters of 6,000 litres capacity
- Two lifts to carry 8 passengers each
Hostel Unit-III: This unit is built to accommodate 288 boys. It has a plinth area of 5,611.29 square meters. The hostel area comprises a basement, ground floor and 5 upper floors. All the rooms at this hostel are on twin twin-sharing basis. The basement offers a vehicle parking facility. Each floor consists of three wings, and in each wing, there are 8 rooms for a total of 24 rooms per floor. Each student is provided with a wardrobe, study table, chair, cot and overhead book-storing cabinet. The facilities offered at the hostel include:
- Solar heaters of 7500 litres capacity
- Two lifts to carry 9 Passengers each with 7 Stops
- Fire-fighting services
- Reading rooms
- Two TV lounges
- Visitors lounge
- Indoor games like Carrom, Table Tennis
Hostel Unit-IV: This hostel was built to accommodate 117 girl students with a plinth area of 5402 sq. meters. It comprises the basement, ground, and the upper three floors. The hostel has rooms on a triple-sharing basis. There are 9 rooms on each floor, and 10 rooms on each of the upper floors. In the basement, there is a warden's office and a visitors' lounge, along with other amenities. The amenities available at Hostel Unit-IV include:
- Reading room in the basement
- Dining hall in the basement
- TV lounge in the basement
- Indoor games in the basement
- Parking for two-wheelers on the eastern side, adjacent to the compound wall
- Solar water heater of 5,000 litres capacity
- Two lifts to carry 5 passengers each, with 5 stops
- Washing machines in all the wings
Main Hostel (Phase 1): Main Hostel (Phase 1) is a newly constructed hostel exclusively for female students. It has a plinth area of 539 sq meters. It comprises of basement, a ground floor and three upper floors, and can accommodate 76 girls. This hostel has all the rooms on a twin-sharing basis, with attached washrooms. All the rooms have high-speed internet connectivity. The basement is meant for vehicle parking. Each student is offered a wardrobe, a study table, a chair, a cot and book book-storing cabinet. The building has a solar water heating system of 3,000 LPD capacity. Each floor has 10 rooms, out of which nine rooms are twin sharing and one room is single occupancy. Main Hostel (Phase 1) offers:

Main Hostel Dining Block: Apart from these hostels, two separate dining halls are situated for boys and girls. These can accommodate 180 boys and 60 girls at a time. These dining halls have both vegetarian and non-vegetarian centralised modern kitchens. The basement of these dining halls has stores for provisions, vegetables and other commodities. On the western side of the dining block, a branch of Allahabad Bank and an internet centre are located. The board room of the hostel committee, office of the Indian hostels, Secretary and Warden’s chambers and the residence of the assistant warden are located on the first floor of the dining block.
Multi-Purpose Hall: Situated in the hostel complex is a multi-purpose hall, which is used for conducting meetings, seminars, functions organised by the management, cultural programs, farewell functions, get-togethers, food arrangements for examiners, etc. The hall has a stage and can accommodate about 200 people. A green room is attached to the hall, and the required furniture and audio systems are equipped there. This hall is used exclusively for conducting auditions and musical events during UTSAV.
BMS College of Engineering Hostel Life
The hostel at BMS College of Engineering provides an advantage to the students to be friends with fellow students from across the globe. This gives them an exposure to different religions, languages and customs of countries. The hostel promotes living in a community, which leads to all-around development of the personality of the hostelite and will go a long way in fostering world-class citizens. The BMSET Hostel is a place to grow and evolve one’s personality. The hostel at BMS College of Engineering offers safety, security, comfort and confidence. Moreover, the general menu of the hostel is decided by the hostelite representatives selected by the hostels. On all the important festivals, special menus are introduced. The mess facilities make sure that food is the least of the worries for students. One of the salient features of the Hostel is its care for students.

BMS College of Engineering has a library located in the central place of the campus, and is prominently housed in a big and spacious building with a floor area of 4200 sq. meters. (45200 sq. ft). BMSCE Library aims to seek, create, communicate and preserve knowledge and understanding and carries out this mission in a unified community. It is an information hub of the academic community and a centre of unbridled intellectual inquiry. The objectives of the library are: to develop a collection of documents (both in print and electronic form) and keep them up to date by meeting the needs of users of today and tomorrow; to support the academic programmes of the parent institution by providing necessary reading materials; and to provide individual and group guidance to readers in making maximum use of Library resources. The library also encourages students to develop skills for self-education, which can sharpen their intellect and contribute to their personality development. It also supports teaching staff in their teaching and research activities. User education programmes are conducted to train students and staff in making effective use of Library resources.
The library offers both online and offline resources in abundance. The digital library offers online access to 15 e-resources on Science and Technology for studies and research. It also has access to 7529 e-journals & 25908 e-books on various branches of Science, Technology, Engineering &, and Management. The library also subscribes to 145 National and International printed journals. It offers access to Provide access to all streams of Question Papers through Digital Software–TechFocuz via Intranet. Moreover, it has subscribed to NPTEL lectures that are streamed using the Internet.

BMS College of Engineering offers top-class sports facilities to its students with an aim to evolve a holistic approach to the all-round betterment of human resources through a harmonious blend of body, mind and spirit. The library is aesthetically located in a central place near the main entrance of the college and is very prominently housed in a big and spacious building with a floor area of 2625.67 sq. m. The Library has tie-up with INDEST Consortium, access to IEL online resources is available in the library. Library receives 165 numbers of technical journals and arranged area wise in the periodicals section. Library also has access to IEEE, ASCE, ASME, ACM digital library, springer link, and science direct periodicals in digital form through INDEST consortium, IIT Delhi. The library is automating its services and activities through “LIBSYS” package, which gives search facility, reservation facility among other things for the users.

Hostel capacity for boys also includes the international students, total no.of beds are total of triple, twining and single sharing. Outside Campus rented building are also available for hostels. The eligibility criteria for admission into MBA course at BMS College of Engineering is as follows:
- Students must have completed their bachelor's degree from a recognised university
- Students must have atleast 50% in UG
- SC or the ST Category students hailing from Karnataka must have atleast 45% in UG

MBA fees at BMSCE includes the tuition costs that can go upto INR 9 lakh. Whereas the hostel fees vary from INR 1.54 Lacs to INR 1.82 Lacs annually. The admisison to the course is based on national-level entrance exams, such as KMAT/ CMAT/ MAT/ PGCET. It is a two year full time course.

The hostel fees is approximately INR 1 lakh for a year and provide all the basic amenities such as bed, chair, table, cupboard, laundry, etc. And the availability of WI-FI is 24 hours a day. The food served in the mess is not so good, but it is a good place to live as it provides all the basic amenities. The college is very good at extracurricular activities and organizes at least one festival each month. The college makes a festival like a food fair, a job fair, etc. and all that. The college library is also very big and contains a lot of books, e-books, and journals, as well as books relating to courses. The college is mainly built with an area for sports activities and also contains all the state-level and national-level sports teams in the college.
