DAVV formerly known as the University of Indore is accredited with A + Grade by NAAC. The institute was established in 1964 by the Act of the Legislature of Madhya Pradesh. The university, through around 239 colleges and various schools of study, offers UG, PG, and other courses to students across Computer Engineering, Journalism, and various other streams. The university also provides open and distance learning courses to the students. Devi Ahilya University is approved by AICTE.

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya is ranked 101-150 by the NIRF 2024 under the University (Overall) category. Located in Indore, DAVV has also started the Self-supporting courses in the country. Out of its 37 schools and centres of study, 20 schools are known to offer courses on a self-supporting basis.
