Mystory@Namarita Kathait: How I chose my course and college
Selecting my college was not that easy. I graduated school with Science subjects. While I scored the highest marks in English, my overall score was not good enough. And why would it be? I was drudging my last two years of school under parental and academic pressure. But I decided to finally put my foot down and learn the language I had always loved. I tried cracking Common Admission Test of English (CATE) of Delhi University, but I couldn’t get through the 'so called best colleges'. I spent days waiting for the DU cutoff lists to come. At that time, I thought – Would I be happy if I got admission in any college at North or South campus? My instant reply was “Yes, perhaps”.
I had heard of Mata Sundri College for Women from my grandparents because they lived near East Delhi and the college was near ITO. They told me that the girls of Mata Sundri College had once stopped buses and created traffic jams. I felt relief and gratitude because in the first cut-off of this college I was eligible for admission in the course I wanted. My parents thought we would visit other colleges as well on our way and then decide. However, the moment I stepped into the classroom of the college and met the teachers, I simply took admission.

My college life: classes, extra-curricular activities and more
The university gave me the best time of my life, where I made the best of friends, understood what sisterhood meant, worked upon my own self without getting drowned in unnecessary university hoopla and simply aligned my aims.
I got teachers who supported me and provided me with the best advice and support letters that earned me admission in London University with scholarship for master degree programme.
I loved the subject, so I fell in love with the teachers. All through my school life I had studied different subjects. So, I rated the subjects according to the teachers who taught them. And here, I was studying just English Literature. It was refreshing. However, I still found some favorites. Fortunately, when I was at college the English department was building theater groups. I tried participating as much as I could. I wrote a play for my college's annual function that was performed and enacted on stage. It was an awesome experience.
I don't think I would ever want to have done anything differently. My father always said sometimes it is better to be a frog of a small pond.
