Jamia Millia Islamia offers three-year BA and BA (Hons) programmes at the UG level. The BA (Hons) programme is available across 18 specialisations. Admission to Jamia Millia Islamia for BA and BA (Hons) is subject to either CUET (conducted by NTA) or JMI Entrance Exam. Till 2021, admission was subject to the JMI entrance exam across all specialisations. However, starting 2022, admission to a few BA (Hons) specialisations was CUET-based and for the rest, it is university-level entrance-based.

Aspiring students are required to register on the official website of JMI and fill the application form online. In the form, fill all the details asked, upload the required documents and pay the application fee. Starting 2022, for BA, BSc and BVoc, JMI started accepting the scores of CUET UG. Jamia Millia's Admission process for 2023 is conducted in online mode only. While submitting the application, candidates are required to make a payment of the application fee via credit card/ debit card/ net banking. As per the CUET UG website, students seeking admission to BA at Jamia Millia must appear for and qualify CUET exam. However, since some universities are also considering other components while giving admission to CUET-UG based courses, it could be a possibility of getting into JMI without CUET. But, this being said there is no official information on whether the university will only consider CUET UG scores or other components as well for admission, it is tough to give the right answer. Students are therefore advised to reach out to the admission office for more details.
Candidates have to apply online to appear in JMI Entrance Exam. The application forms are released on the official website of JMI. Candidates have to first create an account by filling their basic details and then fill the detailed application form, select their course, upload required documents and pay the application fee. The registration window usually remains open for a month.
Jamia Millia Islamia releases cut off for different categories, including General, Other Backward Caste, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe. The JMI entrance exam cut off for SC and ST category students is usually lower than cut off for General category.

Jamia Millia Islamia offers seat reservations in almost all the courses based on the category of the students. Candidates seeking admission under the reserved category can apply for reservation under one category only and are required to fulfil the prescribed eligibility conditions of the course. More details regarding JMI reservation criteria are enlisted below:
- 30% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for Muslim applicants. 10% of the total number of seats in each course are reserved for women applicants
who are Muslims and 10% of the total number of seats in each course shall be earmarked for (OBCs) and ST students who are Muslims. - 5% of seats in all the courses are reserved for physically challenged students.
- 5% of seats in all courses must be filled by internal students of Jamia who have passed their qualifying exam from Jamia schools as regular students.

JMI Entrance Exam is a pen and paper-based test which is designed to assess a candidate's analytical aptitude, logical reasoning skills, English comprehension and general awareness. It may sound tough, but these are the skills which we are taught in school so there is nothing new to learn.
