Mystory@Taniya Malik: How I chose my course and college
Honestly, like every other student I was confused about my course selection. Sometimes it didn’t matter to me as I really had no clue what I was going to do in the future, but anyway. I had to choose something or the other. Arts, Commerce, Science, what to pick was the question! However, my bad scores in Science and Maths, made it a little clear. Science was never an option available for me. I thought a lot about it, and I eventually picked Commerce with Web Studies (Without Maths). Business studies and accountancy were interesting and I slowly started loving my subjects. Web studies was a little boring but I still managed to attend the classes without sleeping.
How I cracked college admission
Like every other student, I was in a state of confusion. All that was on my mind was the excitement to go to college. Meanwhile, CBSE results were out and the results brought a big smile on my face. I managed to score 77%. My best 4 score was 80%. My love for English literature made me choose English Honors. I got admission on merit basis. I was soon a student of Motilal Nehru College, South Campus. College life gave me the best memories. Having your college in the campus area always adds to the fun. The crowd was amazing and Satya Niketan was are all year round adda. The best way to enjoy college life is living every day to the fullest. Bunking classes to chill out with friends is never a bad idea.
What I gained from my college experience
College was fun! I had an interest in photography and wanted to learn it. I enrolled for a certificate course in Mass Communication from DU USOL. The course has subjects like photography, writing, reporting and editing. It was a 6 months course and the faculty was great. I started developing more interest in the field of writing and photography. We used to go for photo tours too. It was a great experience. After my graduation, one day, I was looking out for jobs online, and that’s when I got a call from Weblink India. They said they were looking for content writers. I went for an interview and got selected. I started working as a content writer. We used to write for our clients as well as in-house projects. However, the content was SEO based and got monotonous after a while. I planned to leave the job after 6 months and thought of studying M.A. I got a lot of experience from the job in terms of writing.
