From a person who was shy to a person who grabbed all the eyeballs: Ananya Sahai

After my 12th, I was very confused about what subject I should opt for. I was not sure if I wanted to prepare for some competitive exam. Here again, impulsively I took a decision of dropping a year and preparing for CLAT.

I opted for science stream in class 11th and 12th i.e. Physics, Chemistry, Math and Computer. I scored really good marks in class 10th and honestly, my confidence made me take this step of opting for science which I actually regret a little because it led to my deteriorated marks in class 12th.

After my 12th, I was very confused about what subject I should opt for. I was not sure if I wanted to prepare for some competitive exam. Here again, impulsively I took a decision of dropping a year and preparing for CLAT. I gave CLAT next year but I wasn't satisfied with the colleges I was getting, so, I thought of dropping the idea of pursuing law but as my decision was quite late I was just left with only a few options. Hence, I thought of joining Amity University, Lucknow campus. It is closer to my home. Probably, by the time I complete my graduation, I can get my mind on the right track.

I did not opt for law here, instead, I am studying Applied Psychology in a hope that I'll get to learn something different and interesting in terms of self-growth. Hopefully, I will be able to understand different kinds of personalities in society and so forth.

Getting into Amity was easy. All the details regarding the admissions were easily available on its website and I got to know even more about the course I was opting through its microsite whose link one can find on the website itself. For the entrance exam, I did not have to give any admission test for Amity University- Applied Psychology. I had to go through a personal interview which went amazing and my HOD was really impressed by me.

I have given a number of competitive exams like CLAT, JEE Main, LSAT and others as after my school, I was very confused and wanted to give it a go for various streams and courses. Studying for their entrance gave me a glimpse of what initial base I required. I did not join any coaching institute for any competitive exam as I did not have much time in my hand to join multiple coaching for various independent exams as every single exam was very different from another.

My time in college is usually spent in attending classes. My college requires 75% attendance so most of my time is spent in class and the rest with my friends. In our spare time, we go to the library and canteen. Amity has a lot of greenery so it is even pleasant to sit outside and chill. I like reading books in the library and jam on some music in the garden area. Mostly, I like all the subjects but politics and history classes are my favorite.

I have been a shy kid all my life. Being around too many people and being on stage was really nerve-racking for me. Thus, I never really participated much in extra-curricular activities. But I wanted to change that in my college life and so I did it. I branched out and while overcoming all of my fears, prepared a dance performance for the freshers. Seniors helped me a lot in it. Everyone was really supportive. I also participated in the gig for our college fest. I am still very proud of myself for taking such a huge leap and the recognition and appreciation that it brought me was really special for me. From a person who was shy to a person who grabbed all the eyeballs - it was one heck of a journey.

If given a chance, I would like to study law as it fascinates me a lot.

My college experience has been really amazing and I enjoy every single day of it. It has already made me come out of my shell in such a short span of time. I am looking forward to all the positive and fascinating changes that my college life will bring. I hope it is for the best.
