Mystory@Dolly Sharma: How I chose my course and college
I did Class 10 from Government Girls Senior Secondary School and scored 92 CGPA. I did Commerce in Class 11 and 12 from RPVV and I scored 72% in Commerce stream. I chose Commerce stream because of my keen interest in Maths, Accounts and Economics. I have also received a certificate in mental math in a state level competition when I was in Class 10.
Here, I want to share that my father wanted to be a good accountant but because he was from Arts stream he could not realize his dream. So, he pinned his hopes on me and put in a lot of hard work behind me. In class 11 my performance dropped but I worked hard in Class 12 to bounce back.
As I was interested in Accounts and economics I decided to do BBA after Class 12. In my Graduation years, I had a lot of fun but at the same time gained a lot of knowledge too. I gained a lot of practical experience too as I was involved in coordination college events. I did BBA from IME College and was the topper of that year with 72%.
In Post-Graduation, I chose to pursue PGDM from JIMS, Kalkaji. At JIMS, I get a lot of opportunities to attend and present papers at national and international conferences. I want to thank my college for these opportunities.
The faculty of Kalkji campus in very helpful. They not only help us in our subjects but also advise us on our career.
How I cracked college admission
I took MAT, CAT and IBS Hyderabad’s entrance exam to secure an MBA seat. To prepare for these exams I attended MBA GURU’s coaching classes. Since I am weak in logical reasoning, I attempted lots of mock tests. Eventually, I chose JIMS, Kalkaji. One more reason behind choosing JIMS is that the Kalkaji campus is close to my residence.
What I gained from my college experience
In college, besides attending classes, I spend my time talking to my seniors and faculty. Most of our talks are career related. Other than that, I read Brand Equity magazine and read about top entrepreneurs online. I also participate in extra-curricular activities like, debate, painting, etc.
JIMS has brought a huge change in my personality, the most striking being improvement in my communication skills.
My college experience has been excellent as I learnt organizational skills and leadership qualities.
