I completed my diploma in the stream of EEE from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya. Electrical and electronics is hard to learn. Initially it was hard for me as I was an average student but later I enjoyed the core subjects like machines, PLC's. I stayed in hostel leaving my parents. Initially it was very hard for me as for everything I used to consult my parents, but later on I started taking my own decisions. I made many new friends. I used to wake up at 5am. I have learn what life is from these 3 years of diploma. During my college I presented many papers and participated in technical events conducted at different colleges and bagged many prizes. My team and I did an innovative project and details about the same were published in many newspapers. With all these credits I was awarded as the ‘Best Student’ for extracurricular activity during my final year. I got offer in IT sector but I didn't go, became unemployed and later got job in a core company and worked there for 1.5yrs but I knew that I am was growing in the organization even though I performed well. I thought of doing MBA and prepared for the same while working. I appeared for the entrance exam and finally got seat in PSG Institute of Management by cracking GD/PI and interviews. This college is one of the well-known institutions in South India. When I say to people that I am from PSG people, they appreciate me and encourage me as this is one of the top institutions in South.

How I cracked college admission

I obtained admission in my college through the scores of MAT exam. I didn’t appear for any other exams as I was working, and did not have much time. I also didn’t get much time to prepare for my exams as my work schedule was hectic. I used to study in the office when I got free time and didn’t go to any coaching center. A soon as I got my result, many colleges offered me admission but I was aiming for a top institution. I heard through my friend that PSG applications were available online and I applied to the institute as I was eligible. They called me for GD/PI and final interview. I gave my best and finally got admission.

What I gained from my college experience  

I spend most of my time in the amphitheater and computer lab. I also go to the library and read books related to my subject. I like to attend the marketing class and I make it a point to never miss that class as the Sir focuses on case studies, real time marketing etc. I am a part of the debate club and love to attend the sessions where eminent personalities are invited to deliver speeches. If a chance is given I would invite the professors of IIMs to teach us what they do in IIM. Also, I want my college to schedule the timetable and conduct programs just like the IIMs. My college has changed me a lot in many aspects. My class has a huge number of students and about 80% of students hold a work experience.

The faculty is highly experienced, thus the level of teaching is much higher compared to others. Every day I learn new things and many entrepreneurs visits our campus to share their experience. Apart from management, I get to learn a lot like leadership skills, problem solving, outbound training etc. I have failed in many things in life but this is a platform where in need to excel and prove my worth. Some people tagged me as a looser, but I didn't give up. Winning keeps you strong, but losing makes you stronger and I am stronger!

I am Sriram pursuing PGDM from PSG institute of Management, Coimbatore. I did my schooling from Perks Matriculation Higher Secondary School and have done my Diploma and Engineering in the stream Electrical and Electronics Engineering. My hobbies include watching Science fiction movies, riding bike, browsing a lot about new stuff. Google is my best friend. I always try to learn new things and I am able to repair most of the electronic items. I am good in presentation and have bagged many prizes in the technical events.
