Mystory@Seema Gaur: How I chose my course and college

Mystory@Seema Gaur

I chose Commerce in Class 11 and 12 due to my keen interest in it. I was completely dedicated towards studies and scored the highest marks in Business Studies in Class 12 Board exams. This success gave me immense confidence and made my path easy.

Pursuing MBA was the best decision of my life.

In Graduation I chose B Com and enjoyed those three years studying both Management and Accounting subjects. Then it was the time to select my Masters programme. I had the options of either Commerce or Management. Since I was more interested in Management and business related studies, I selected MBA at PG level. Fortunately, I was free to take decisions regarding my career.

Pursuing MBA was the best decision of my life as it gave me what I really needed to make my career. In the three semesters gone by, I studied well and scored good marks which made my parents very happy. Now I am in my fourth and last semester of MBA and I want to enjoy it to the fullest and score well too.

How I cracked college admission

I wanted to pursue MBA from the best college. When I searched the top 10 colleges for MBA in India, the name of my college, IPS Business School popped up. I searched about the college and the admission process. Basically, for admission to MBA, one has to clear exams like CAT, MAT, CMAT, etc. Some colleges conduct their own entrance tests.

I took MAT and scored a good percentile. I got selected in all the MBA colleges of Jaipur. I chose IILM College of Management Studies but I was asked to take up PGDM rather than MBA so I decided to try another college. Then I got call from IPS Business School on the basis of MAT score. I was called for Group Discussion and Personal Interview which I cracked despite being nervous initially.

During my interview and tests I was nervous and low on self-confidence but the environment of this college made me feel like the upcoming two years of MBA will be awesome.

What I learned in my college years

IPS Business School gives its students a wonderful and friendly environment where they can overcome all the struggles and difficulty in studies and learn in a better way.

I usually spend most of time in my college. I attend almost all the lectures. After classes, my friends and I hang out in the canteen, discussing lectures or gossiping. I also spend time in the library reading about successful business leaders and entrepreneurs.

My professor told me, “have faith in yourself first, then others will also trust you”.

We have both theory and practical lectures on regular basis, but I like to attend practical lectures more because of the competitive spirit it instills in all of us. In the practical lectures, the professor always gives questions to students to solve and the students compete with each other to solve them. Theory lectures are also interesting as we are taught with the help of power-point presentations and through examples of advertisements.

Lots of parties, events and corporate sessions are organized in my college. I participate in all the activities as I get to learn a lot about time management and other skills. I have also handled many events successfully.

My college life has changed me a lot. Earlier, I was not confident that I could do a task or take responsibilities but gradually I learned and grew confident. Whenever I would say no to any task, my professor would assure me of my capabilities. He would say, “have faith in yourself first, then others will also trust you”. I always kept this in mind.

IPS taught me many things which I think no other college could have taught me.
