To my delight, the CRMC Department arranged for the summer internship selection process also online, says Ayush

There goes a popular aphorism “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he”, so when I enrolled for the CAT exam, I was determined about one thing, to aim for the best to turn my destiny around. As the CAT Result was declared and the CAT scorecard displayed 75+ percentile, and my dream to pursue higher education in Delhi NCR was turning true.

Rising from a humble town of Bhiwani, the commotion of the city was new to me. Alongside, the search for the B-schools was quite a rough road to tread. During the shortlisting process, I received a call from JIMS Rohini and their admission team informed me that I have been shortlisted for the PGDM Programme offered by the institute.

It was the month of February; the weather was still foggy in some parts of North India, including Delhi. I was so thrilled that day and reached the campus of JIMS Rohini (early morning at 8:30am) even before the staff arrived. The admission team is quite courteous; realising that I reached so early, they immediately took care of my admission formalities.

The admission team arranged for our campus tour and believe me, nestled in a well-connected location of Delhi; I found JIMS Rohini one of the best choices to pursue my PGDM dream. JIMS Rohini is one of the B-schools that stand true to its claim unlike other B-schools who claim more than they can deliver.

As the admission formalities got over, I visited the hostel to check the rooms and the aesthetics of the place where I will be spending the rest two year of my life. Facilities such as pick and drop to the JIMS Rohini campus, four meals, Wi-fi access, and twin-sharing bedrooms convinced me to book for hostel facility as well.

When July approached and our first trimester was about to commence, I shifted to Delhi with the hopes of carving a future that I had only envisioned till date. The morning rush to attend the classes, making presentations, competing assignments before the deadlines, interaction with the industry experts, organising activities with the cultural club and academic clubs kept us occupied for most of the day.

However, we were unaware that the worst was yet to arrive. The nationwide lockdown was announced on 25^th March 2020 to prevent the further spread of Covid 19, shattering all my aspirations to attend physical classes. As PGDM (2019-21) batch students, we had to brainwire ourselves towards the new digital learning patterns being introduced by JIMS Rohini.

All the seminars, workshops, industry interactions, live projects took place in online mode, from home. We were taking lectures online through the JIMS Learning Management System (LMS). To my delight, the CRMC Department arranged for the summer internship selection process also online. I sat for the placements and got my first gig at ‘Bajaj Capital’ in the finance profile. Even the internship took place in the confines of my home. We submitted the summer internship projects online to our respective faculty members.

The coursework was getting tougher day-by-day and I was dying to rush to the campus to attend classes in physical mode. I chose Finance specialisation in the second year, which had narrowed my scope of applying to finance profiles only. The influx of recruiters at the campus got me on the nerves and my confusion was giving me a hard time.

But where there is a problem, JIMS always has a solution to offer. The institute arranged for a Placement Preparedness Plan (PPP) that guided us through all the stages of the placement process where we could possibly face hiccups. As the final placements were arranged online, the selection process became more stringent in terms of testing the skills and aptitude of the aspirants. The CMRC Department looked into this matter and trained us accordingly.

‘Cians Analytics’ is the name that became my Launchpad letting me reach horizon of my aspirations. When the pandemic hit the country with a bolt, placement opportunities offered by JIMS relieved me from the fear of missing out in the age of digitally advanced economy.

Concluding my experience, I want to acknowledge the contribution of the faculty of the B-school who is an indispensable part of our managerial development. Without their constant motivation and round-the-clock availability, I would have never been able to attain substantial heights in my career.
