NIRF to announce top Government MBA colleges 2026 soon
NIRF Government MBA Colleges Ranking 2026 list will be released most likely this week as a part of Ministry of Education’s annual rankings of educational institutions for higher studies. Every year, scores of MBA colleges participate in NIRF management rankings out of which the names of top 100 colleges are announced. Over the years, Government MBA colleges have been dominating the top 10 and top 20 ranks. In the NIRF 2025 ranking, 8 out to top 10 positions were bagged by Government MBA colleges.
As the NIRF MBA ranking 2026 is awaited, here’s a recap of last year’s top rank holders among government institutions providing quality MBA programmes.

NIRF Government MBA Colleges Ranking 2025: Top 20 Colleges
IIM Ahmedabad has bagged the top spot for 5 years in a row, in the NIRF MBA ranking. Ever since the launch of NIRF ranking in 2025 in 2026, IIM Ahmedabad has been ranked No.1 among all management institutions in India. Only twice in this duration, IIM Ahmedabad lost No.1 rank to IIM Bangalore, who has been rank Ranked No. 2 for 8 years. Among other MBA government colleges, IIT-DoMs are also ranked in NIRF top 20, every year.

NIRF Government MBA Colleges Ranking 2026: Parameters
While thousands on B-Schools send their entries for the rankings, not all get selected. Some even get rejected in the initial stages as they don’t or may not be able to justify their scores on the five key parameters on which the NIRF Rankings are prepared. Here are the five parameters on which an institute’s performance in evaluated.
Teaching, Learning & Resources (TLR)
- Student Strength including Doctoral Students (SS)
- Faculty-student ratio with emphasis on permanent faculty (FSR)
- Combined metric for Faculty with PhD (or equivalent) and Experience (FQE)
- Financial Resources and their Utilisation (FRU)
- Online Education(OE)
- Multiple Entry/Exit, Indian Knowledge System and Regional languages (MIR)
Research and Professional Practice (RP)
- Combined metric for Publications (PU)
- Combined metric for Quality of Publications (QP)
- IPR and Patents: Published and Granted (IPR)
- Footprint of Projects and Professional Practice (FPPP)
- Publications & Citations in SDGs (PSDGs)
Graduation Outcomes (GO)
- Metric for University Examinations (GUE)
- Metric for Number of Ph.D. Students Graduated (GPHD)
Outreach and Inclusivity (OI)
- Percentage of Students from Other States/Countries (Region Diversity RD)
- Percentage of Women (Women Diversity WD)
