Student of Rajagiri Centre for Business Studies shares his personal experience of GDPI
By: Bharat Debbarma
Advice from friends helps in learning about GD and PI. Also, taking their feedback positively and learning from experience often helps in clearing the GD and PI rounds during the placement process.
Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) are important tools to assess the capabilities of a student. Hence, it becomes crucial for every candidate in the placement process to clear GD and PI to get placement in a reputed company.
In this article, I am going to share my personal experience on GDPI of ICICI Prudential Placement Process.
ICICI Prudential had visited our campus, interacted with all the applicants, and conducted a pre-placement talk at the initial followed by GD & PI.
The topic we got in the panel was “Is Social Media Eliminating the Creativity of People”. There was a group of eight applicants in the panel and a judge. Three minutes were given to think on the topic and also, mobile was allowed to get the details if required. Once the three minutes were over the judge rang a bell and asked the participants to start the discussion. Eight minutes were given for the discussion. Some of the participants were against the motion while the others were in favour of the motion, including me. Few points that were discussed are listed below:
Against Points:
- Social Media gives us more ideas as it is connected with a huge base of people and ideas can be shared and nurtured
- Social Media is a platform that promotes and develops creativity through sharing of ideas
- Social Media could be used in a more creative and could help in increasing brand awareness. For e.g.: Instagram shopping
Favour Points:
- Social media is an addictive platform and due to which, the concentration power of the people decreases
- Children are not thinking creatively instead they copy other people’s ideas from social media thus, the authenticity of the owner is ambiguous
- People are devoted to mobile and social media this has weakened their creativity.
The participants who would clear GD round would proceed for the last round that is Personal Interview (PI). Personal Interview is face-to-face round and my interview lasted for 15 minutes. Some of the questions that were asked with my responses are given below:
