Students’ Speak: How to cope with a low TANCET score
By: Abhishek Desai
It is recommended for all the serious MBA aspirants to always keep a good backup of other exams and not just depend upon the result of anyone.
Is your TANCET score lower than you expected? A sincere aspirant will bounce back from such a setback and score well in the upcoming MAH MBA CET and May MAT (or next year’s exams if applicable).
Upon getting the result, one must accept it positively and take it as a learning experience. Considering such a situation can happen to even the best of the candidates, it is recommended for all the serious MBA aspirants to always keep a good backup of other exams and not just depend upon the result of anyone. There are past instances where aspirants have scored low in TANCET but have been able to bounce back and score well in other exams such as CET, MAT, etc.

Students can also wait for the counselling sessions. The marksheets can be downloaded from the website by the candidates within ten days from the date of publication of results of the TANCET. Further, a counselling process is conducted by the Anna University, Chennai, for only those who have registered themselves with the institute.
To shortlist the various colleges accepting various percentile ranges, you can refer to the detailed information provided on education portals such as Shiksha. Check out the cutoff scores of the past three years to get more clarity on the probable cutoff in 2020. An MBA aspirant must always be mindful of the ROI, learning opportunities, and the brand name of a college before taking admission in it; a college which provides an overall great learning exposure will surely be worth investing both the time and money in the MBA/PGDM course.
And as per the scores in the recent mocks, one can get a fair clarity of which college to be aimed for. Keep a wide range of various good backup colleges, wherever they are in India. For example, the expected cutoff of all the major colleges for the General Category students is the range of 35-40 so a score of 40 - 45+ in the mocks is advisable.
To give suggestions on increasing the scores (applicable to those focusing on the other exams), one needs to be wary of the fact of spending more time than necessary on a particular question or a section. Keep a tab on the time without compromising on the accuracy aspect while giving any mock test. Ask your peers and professors for better guidance. Also, go through all the available articles and videos posted on the Internet to the fullest.
