Schools and colleges around the country have got impacted due to Coronavirus which is going to last for a few more months affecting the crucial period of academic year-end. Nearly, 39,931 schools and 993 universities have got affected due to Covid-19 in India. Board exams have got postponed, even routine exams of schools and colleges have got postponed. That’s why colleges and schools have come up with online classes. Some students and teachers are well versed to provide online training while still there is a portion of people with not such kind of facilities.
The trend of online classes is rising because of the emergency. My experience with online classes has both good and bad aspects. Online classes are comfortable, with no traveling time involved, not much requirement of infrastructure, wise utilization of time and money but it lacks personal touch, it lacks that ease and fun of the classroom. It lacks that doubt session and discussion among the students and teachers. Thus, it is good for a short period and with small topics but is not advisable for the long term. There are also issues such as internet connectivity and voice crashing in online classes.
According to me, if one has to go for a normal course like preparation of exam then online classes are good but for normal routine classes where there are a lot of subjects and different teachers and exam, brick and mortar system is the best. Then a proper set-up and environment are required for it. It gives all the students a proper time table, routine and a way of studying.
I am spending my leisure time doing paid internships, preparing for the upcoming UGC NET exam by taking online classes, having video calls with friends, talking to parents, watching movies and playing indoor games with my family. Moreover, I have downloaded the last 10 year papers from the internet of NET and I solve questions. I hope everyone out there is preparing, studying and utilizing time at its best.
At IMI Bhubaneswar, being in 2 year PGDM course, second-year students were done with the exams before the outbreak of COVID-19. For the first-year students, a few papers were left which will be held after 2 months that are due in June. Thus, students and teachers are in touch with each other by sharing assignments and study material.
My parents also have an educational background, so they are also busy teaching other students online by providing notes to the students and doing virtual classes. They do get involved in the college gossips of mine and listen to them with much interest. Although, before COVID-19 also they were always keen to know about how I am doing at my college and used to ask me all that stuff. Now as they have much time we share more of our college diaries together.
