LPU's Mechanical Engineering placements are decent with opportunities in core areas like manufacturing automobile production maintenance and mechanical design. The university also provides internships industry exposure and placement support. However branch wise placement figures for Mechanical Engineering aren't clearly available in the provided source, so I wouldn't quote a specific average package.

The two specializations are quite different from each other. Mechanical Engineering deals with building physical systems. AI on the other hand, builds systems reliant on codes. AI offers faster growth and high paying salaries. Mechanical Engineering also offers good salaries but it is more stable.
