How to complete NEET 2025 Syllabus on time?

Here we bring the tips to complete the NEET 2025 syllabus on time.

Target the NCERT

NCERT books are the go-to books for NEET 2025 preparation. Apart from the fact that most of the preparation can be completed with the help of NCERT books, their concise form makes it easier to complete the syllabus from these books as compared to the bulky reference books.

  • Current Electricity Dual Nature of Radiation and Matter
  • Semiconductor Electronics

Chemistry:

  • Chemical Bonding

  • Thermodynamics
  • Equilibrium

Botany

  • Genetics and Evolution
  • Ecology and Environment
  • Plant Physiology

Zoology

  • Human Physiology
  • Human Reproduction and Reproductive Health
  • Animal Kingdom, Origin & Evolution.

Students must note that these are a handful of important topics for the NEET 2026 syllabus and they should not restrict their preparation to these topics only, and be prepared for all the other chapters and topics carrying a high weightage in the NEET question paper based on past years' exam analysis.

Q:   What is the syllabus of NEET UG?
A:

NEET UG Syllabus is divided among 4 sections- Physics Chemistry Zoology Botany All these 4 sections hold same marks for the examination and all the sections have 45 questions to be attempted in 45 minds itself. From the link NEET Exam Syllabus you can check the complete syllabus and important topics for 11th and 12th for Physics, Chemistry, and Zoology & Botany. The NEET syllabus underwent major changes last year and this year it has remained the same. The NEET syllabus is the same as the Board exam syllabus. Hence, it is mandatory for students to study and prepare Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus thoroughly to complete NEET syllabus. Unlike previous years, the NEET subject-wise syllabus is not segragated into Class 11 and Class 12 topics, and experimental subjects have been added to Physics subject.

Q:   Is the NEET syllabus tough?
A:

The NEET syllabus is same as that of Class 11 and Class 12 CBSE Board exam syllabi. Hence, it is not that difficult or students need not study anything additional apart from their school or Board exam studies. However, the difficulty level of the exam depends on the question types, which is generally tricky in nature, which makes the difference in the difficulty level.

The best way to tackle the NEET syllabus is through revision and taking as many mock tests as possible. According to experts and previous years' NEET analysis, Physics section is the toughest followed by Chemistry and Biology. Moreover, toughness is subjective and it depends on the preparation level and aptitude of students.

Prepare a timetable

A timetable is a must if you want to complete the NEET 2025 syllabus in time. Prepare a detailed timetable that takes into account all the chapters that are included in the syllabus of NEET 2025. Divide the time according to the length and importance of a chapter. Also, take into consideration the time required for solving questions for each chapter. This exercise may take up a day, but it will be worth the time spent.

Start with the basics

As mentioned earlier, always start with NCERT books. But to complete the NEET 2025 syllabus, one needs to do a lot more than complete the theory from NCERT. They need to solve a lot of questions to complete the preparation for a chapter. A tip to ensure that one completes the NEET syllabus in time, start with common questions. These are the questions that have been asked in NEET repetitively for the past few years. These can be found in any book that one is referring to for NEET MCQs. Fix a number of questions that need to be solved for a chapter. Once this number is achieved, move to the next chapter.

Take Mock Tests and analyse the result

Students must start attempting NEET 2025 mock tests only after they have completed around 60 per cent of the syllabus. They can initially leave the questions from the topics that are yet to be covered and keep them out of the analysis. But, for the rest of the section, analyse the reasons for markdowns in the test. Do not procrastinate revising the chapters that were the reason for major markdowns. However, do not get carried away and spend more time than required on revising these chapters.

Q:   Has there been any change in the syllabus of NEET 2025?
A:

No, there has not been any change in the NEET 2025 syllabus. Last year, the NEET syllabus underwent major changes as per the recommendation by the National Medical Commission (NMC).  A number of chapters and topics were removed from Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. On the other hand, certain topics and chapters were added and some of the topics were modified. Since such major changes were brought in to last year's NEET syllabus, the NEET 2025 syllabus is unchanged.

NEET syllabus 2025 has been released officially by NMC in December 2024. Hence, students preparing for NEET 2025 should start preparing, or continue their preparation based on last year's NEET syllabus. Even if some changes are introduced to the NEET 2025 syllabus, those would not be something major.

Q:   Why was the NEET 2024 syllabus changed?
A:

The National Testing Agency (NTA), had clarified the reason behind changing the NEET 2024 syllabus. NTA stated, "Due to the COVID-19 scenario, various School Boards deleted portions of each subject's syllabus. The deleted portion is still not being taken back by these Boards. The deletions were not uniform across various boards. Hence, a number of requests were received by the NTA for the revision of the syllabus." Last year, before the NEET exam, several students and parents asked NTA to release the rationalised NEET syllabus. Since the syllabus of NEET was already released before the rationalisation took place,

Q:   What is the Biology syllabus for NEET?
A:

The Biology syllabus for NEET has undergone changes based on the recommendations by the National Medical Commission (NMC). Although earlier the NEET syllabus for Biology was categorised into Class 11 and Class 12 syllabus, it has now been merged. The units of the NEET 2024 Biology syllabus is given below.

Unit I: Diversity in Living World

Unit III: Cell Structure and Function

Unit IV: Plant Physiology

Unit V: Human Physiology

Unit VI: Reproduction

Unit VII: Genetics and Evolution

Unit VIII: Biology and Human Welfare

Unit IX: Biotechnology and Its Applications

Unit X: Ecology and Environment

Q:   What is the Physics syllabus for NEET?
A:

Unlike previous years, there is no segregation of syllabus according to Class 11 and Class 12. The list of units for NEET 2024 Physics syllabus is given below.

Unit I: Physics and Measurement

Unit II: Kinematics

Unit III: Laws of Motion

Unit IV: Work, Energy and Power

Unit VIII: Thermodynamics

Unit IX: Kinetic Theory of Gases

Unit X: Oscillations and Waves

Unit XI: Electrostatics

Unit XII: Current Electricty

Unit XIII: Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism

Unit XIV: Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents

Unit XV: Electromagnetic Waves

Unit XVI: Optics

Unit XVII: Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation

Unit XVIII: Atoms and Nuclei

Move to advance books if time permits

Once the syllabus has been completed from the NCERT books and the student has started taking mock tests, they can start referring to other books for NEET 2025 preparation. However, this exercise should be carried out only if there are more than six months for the examination. Picking up a new book just before the examination may lead to confusion and conflicts in the concepts.

Stick to topics of Class 12 level

Many students get overwhelmed during their preparation and start referring to advanced level books for NEET. This way, they end up losing time over things that will not be asked in this examination. Students must remember that the questions in NEET 2024 will be of the Class 12 level only. They are not required to gain BSc-level knowledge of these subjects to clear this examination.

Remember to revise

The last tip on how to complete the NEET syllabus 2025 on time is regular revision. Merely completing the syllabus of NEET 2024 will not yield the desired result. Retention of what is being read is equally important to complete the syllabus of NEET 2025. Thus, regular revision of the chapters that were read earlier is a must.
