Now 10th Grade Passouts Eligible for BAMS: NCISM Launches New 7.5-Year Pre-Ayurveda Program with NEET UG
A good news for every medical aspiring students that they can get admission to BAMS courses after Class 10. NCISM has introduced Pre-Ayurvedic programmes for BAMS. The duration of this course is seven and half year with one year internship and the initial two years is dedicated to pre-Ayurveda.
The admission to this course will be based on NEET PAP. There are few institute in each state that offers BAMS, known as Ayurvedic Gurukulam.
Students have to reside in the campus for their study. These institutes have separate hospitals. The academic session for BAMS starts in October. These information were issued by National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM).

Eligibility Criteria for BAMS PAP
Before deciding for the admission you must check the eligibility criteria. This is a minimum condition for admission to seven and half year programme for BAMS. The eligibility criteria for BAMS PAP is mentioned below:
- The minimum age to appear for the entrance exam is set at 15 years.
- Candidates who have completed the Class 10 level through a recognized State Board, Central Board, Indian Certificate of Secondary Education, or other approved boards with a 10+2 pattern are eligible for the NEET Pre-Ayurveda Entrance Test.
- Additionally, candidates who have passed Class 10 from a recognized Sanskrit Board equivalent to the State or Central Boards are also eligible for the entrance exam.

Counselling & Exam Method
The latest NCISM regulations outline that the NEET Pre-Ayurveda Entrance Test for the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) follows a course structure of 2+4.5+1 years. This includes two years of Pre-Ayurveda studies, four and a half years in the BAMS program, and one year of compulsory rotatory internship, with the test conducted by the designated authority.
According to these new regulations, a Pre-Ayurveda counselling committee, established by the Commission, will handle the counselling process and allocate seats based on guidelines provided by the Commission. Additionally, the regulations specify that the procedures for the Pre-Ayurveda Entrance Test, result announcements, counselling, and seat allotment will adhere to the Commission's guidelines as updated periodically.
Admission to Pre-Ayurveda programs will follow an all-India common merit list, with the counselling conducted by the Pre-Ayurveda counselling committee. This merit list will apply exclusively to the academic session in which it was issued.
