A total of forty-two students became sick after having a stale breakfast in Morarji Desai Residential School for Girls in Jagalur town.

Karnataka is once again in the news for residential school students getting sick after consuming unhealthy food.

The latest is, as many as forty-two students from Morarji Desai Residential School for Girls in Jagalur town got ill after they consumed allegedly stale rice baths on Friday morning. The students have alleged that the breakfast was prepared using stale rice.

Reportedly, they complained of gastroenteritis after consuming the food and were admitted to the taluk general hospital. The students are said to be out of danger.

Tulak General Hospital Chief Medical Officer Neeraj said, "Consumption of substandard food was the cause of the illness. But, there is no threat to the lives of the students. All students are recovering," as reported by Deccan Herald.

After the incident, Women & Child Development Department Deputy Director Vijay Kumar, Backward Classes Welfare Department Officer Gangappa, and Minority Welfare Department Officer Amit Bidari visited the school.

Another such incident had happened in the state in November, where around 50 students from a residential school in the Yadgir district got ill due to food poisoning after having breakfast. As per reports, later on, a dead baby snake was found in their meal. The students started to vomit after taking the food and were rushed to the Primary Health Centre at Mudnal and from there, students were referred to the district hospital, as reported by Indian Express.
