Shiksha conducted a poll to know the BBA exam preference along with IPMAT. Check which other BBA entrance exams students are targeting.

BBA exam in India

With the BBA season around the corner, Shiksha conducted a recent poll to know the preferred BBA entrance exam of IPMAT aspirants apart from IPM Indore. The poll has revealed interesting insights into the exam preferences. While the Integrated Programme in Management Aptitude Test (IPMAT) remain the top choice for the BBA aspirants, 39% of aspirants are also preparing for IPMAT Rohtak. Students are also preparing for other management entrance exams to maximize their chances of securing admission to the top B-schools offering the BBA course.

According to the poll,

39% of students are targeting both IPMAT Indore and IPMAT Rohtak, showing the strong demand for IIM’s five-year integrated management programmes.

30% of students are also targeting JIPMAT (Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test)

16% of the students are planning to appear for the Symbiosis SET 2026 exam

14% of students chose the MAH BBA CET exam as the second option.

Apart from these, 11% of students seemed interested in the UGAT exam (Undergraduate Aptitude Test) conducted by AIMA.

Shiksha also asked about their dream BBA college and most students highlighted the Indian Institute of Management (IIMs) as their top preference. With increasing competition in BBA admissions, aspirants are diversifying their exam strategies. Experts suggest that preparing for multiple exams not only increases admission opportunities but also helps students stay confident and adaptable across different test patterns. As the BBA exam season approaches, the trend clearly indicates that IPMAT continues to dominate the aspirations of BBA hopefuls, with IIMs remaining the ultimate dream destination.

Q:   Is IPMAT IIM Indore better than IIM Rohtak's IPMAT?
A:

IPMAT and IPM Aptitude Test (IIM Rohtak) have similar syllabus but the difficulty level is different. Both exams have Quantitative Aptitude and Verbal Ability sections. However, IIM Rohtak's IPMAT exam has an additional section- Logical Reasoning. While IPM Aptitude Test is an easy exam, IIM Indore's IPMAT is moderately tough but to say which is better totally depends upon the college a candidate is targeting for the five-year integrated programme. The participating colleges for both exams are different. If a candidate's dream college accepts IPMAT score, then they should appear for IPMAT exam. The IPMAT exam conducted by IIM Indore is accepted by other institutes such as IIFT, IIM Ranchi, Nirma University,  Alliance University,  NICMAR University,  Department of Management Studies and NALSAR University of Law. The benefit of IPMAT by IIM Indore is that the exam is accepted by multiple top management insitutes in country, whereas the one conducted by IIM Rohtak is only accepted by IIM Rohtak.

Q:   What one is better - CAT or IPMAT?
A:

The choice between CAT and IPMAT is based on the career goal. CAT is the most recognised test for admission into MBA programs, mainly for those who have completed their undergraduate studies. It is accepted by the top management institutes like IIMs. Whereas IPMAT is targeted at those students who would like to join directly for a 5-year integrated programme BBA+MBA immediately after schools and institutes such as IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak are providing this integrated program. And if one looks for the MBA, post-graduation CAT would be more suitable for it.
