DoE letter to Heads of Schools of government, government-aided and unaided recognised private schools, NDMC, MCD and Delhi Cantonment Board has instructed to conduct classes in a hybrid format, allowing both physical and online classes.

The Delhi government’s Directorate of Education (DoE) has issued a circular directing schools to conduct classes in hybrid mode for students up to Class IX and Class XI, following the implementation of GRAP Stage-IV restrictions due to severe air pollution.

The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has invoked Stage-IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) after Delhi’s AQI crossed the ‘Severe+’ category.

Hybrid Mode with Immediate Effect

As per the circular, all Heads of Schools of government, government-aided and unaided recognised private schools under the Directorate of Education, NDMC, MCD and Delhi Cantonment Board have been instructed to conduct classes in a hybrid format, allowing both physical and online classes, wherever online teaching is feasible.

The directive will come into force with immediate effect and remain applicable until further orders.

Choice of Online Classes with Students, Parents

The DoE clarified that the option to attend classes online will rest with students and their parents or guardians, wherever such facilities are available. Schools have also been directed to inform parents immediately about the change in the mode of teaching.

All Deputy Directors of Education (DDEs) across zones and districts have been asked to visit schools under their jurisdiction to ensure smooth implementation of the directions.
