The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UP Board) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University (UPRTOU). The initiative aims to offer job-oriented diploma and certificate courses along with career counselling for students who have passed Class 12 under the UP Board.
The MoU was signed in Prayagraj in the presence of UP Board Secretary Bhagwati Prasad Singh and UPRTOU Vice Chancellor Professor Seema Singh.
Objectives of the Initiative
Equip intermediate pass outs with industry relevant skills.
Provide vocational and skill-based training in both online and offline modes.
Offer career guidance and counselling services through regional centres.
Send SMS and email alerts to eligible students about new courses, admission deadlines, and job related opportunities.
Courses will be developed and administered by UPRTOU, with options in computer applications, retail, hospitality, communication skills, and other practical domains.ย Students will have access to UPRTOUโs network of 12 regional centres and affiliated study centres across Uttar Pradesh. UP Board will help in identifying suitable candidates and disseminating course details to recent Class 12 pass-outs.

The courses are offered across various disciplines: Humanities, Sciences, Social Sciences, Management Studies, Education, Computer and Information Sciences, Health Sciences, Agriculture Sciences and Vocational Studies. Candidates must complete Class 12 to apply for UG courses. A minimum of graduation is required to apply for PG courses.
Yes, Bachelor of Arts (BA) is available at UPRTOU. The programme is offered in distance mode. Students can choose among various BA specialisations available at the university. These specialisations are offered through the university's School of Humanities, School of Social Sciences, School of Health Sciences and School of Vocational Studies. The minimum duration of BA courses at UPRTOU is three years and the maximum duration is six years. The total tuition fee for various BA specialisations/courses ranges between INR 1,8000 and INR 32,000. Candidates must note that this fee is sourced from the official website of the institute/sanctioning body. It is still subject to change and hence, is indicative.
BA in Fashion Designing at UPRTOU is one of the BA courses offered by the university. The UG-level course is extended over three years. The course duration is divided into six semesters. The evaluation is based on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The papers included in the subject include various compulsory and elective subjects. Each subject carries certain credits. Some of the subjects included in the syllabus of the course are listed below:
- Basic Designs and Fashion Illustration
- Drafting and Pattern Making
- Garment Fabrication
